LOL! That guy has way too much time on his hands, IMO. I keep the windows of my car relatively clean, as on does, of necessity have to be able to see to drive. The inside, however, is quite another matter. This week I've got a box of Master Gardener calendars in the back seat waiting to be delivered, along with various stacks of League of Women Voter Voter Guides that I've been delivering to local libraries, plus all sorts of dirt from my plant purchases that I've been putting on the floor of the back seat & the passenger side of the front seat when my purchases overflow the trunk. One of these days, I'll pop for getting the car detailed, but in the main I'm too cheap to spend the money for that level of cleanliness.

I'm with dotmom, Jannie, I'm sorry for the gloom and happy that you found a reason to feel better about your misadventure. Dotmom, out kitchen needed an update but we were not ready for, nor did we need, new cupboards. My cabinets are solid oak, tho they are stained dark, and being 20 years old they needed a good cleaning and update. I finally bit the bullet and scrubbed them down with MEs and then used paste wax on them and replaced all the hardware. The difference was staggering.

I worked for a dry cleaner for several years in my (sort of) misspent youth. I worked in the alterations department and I also learned to press which meant I spent a lot of time "out back" with the dry cleaner and the spotter. I learned a TON about fabric care and when I no longer worked that job (and no longer received free dry cleaning!) I began learning how to properly launder things, by reading old sewing and Home Economics books I picked up at yard sales. "Dry clean only" is the safety net for manufacturers. If they slap that label on something they're protected from liability. Consider that both sheep and geese routinely get wet. ;) Cold water and a dilute solution of my favorite laundry detergent is how I wash things like comforters. I will take them to a laundromat to use the extractor to really get remaining water out of them and use their dryers (I don't have a dryer). I routinely wash our feather pillows by first soaking them with the garden hose (this keeps them from floating in the washer). I put them in the washing machine with a cup of ammonia and run the cycle. I rinse them twice. Ammonia cuts grease (and everyone's hair is oily and sometimes we sweat while we're in bed). I take them to the laundromat and "extract" them and then dry them, finishing with a full day in the sunshine on top of the car, turning every couple of hours. They look nearly brand new when I'm done. They're now nearly 15 yrs. old, too. I use ammonia a lot actually; esp. for woolens. I use it for hats, socks, mittens (I rinse carefully and add a capful of lanolin to the final rinse to add water repellency and promote elasticity in the wool fibres). I block and dry them flat or, in the case of socks, on stretchers.

OH and I always use the microfiber cloth for the windows. You can just use water if you use the microfiber cloth, then use a dry one right away before the water dries. If you are too short to reach, I'm sure one of those with a handle will be fine. I would think though, that even someone really short could get up in there maybe even easier than a big person really. Even I, at five feet nine inches, have to do just one side at a time.
