I know it's a bit late but..

I was hoping for some assitance or a point in the right direction...I'm usually over on the crafting board but come over here to be inspired and look in awe of the wonderful projects....now on to my question...

The trees as seen in the picture link below were not created, ownned or photographed by me..but shared with me in hopes that we can some how find the technique in making them or a place to purchase them.

The owner states she purchased them from her local Florist, the florist claims he made them. Someone else mentioned they had seen them in a home show store in Canada.

Some say they are made from the gold edged poinsettia or rose leaves, others say it is gold edged ribbon.

I was wonderfing if any of you folks have a clue to this mystery.

ginger, I have never seen any trees like these before, but have seen some similar. These look to me like they were made from silk leaves or flower petals. I'm sure someone else on this board will be able to help you better than me. The trees are beautiful. Sandi

Ginger, those look really pretty. My first thought was gold edged ribbon, but the gold is all around the leaf. The ball in the third picture looks like rose petals trimmed in gold. I'll bet the tree is the same, only the petals are "scrunched" a little before putting them on the tree. If you find out the answer, I hope you will let us know too. I'd love to make one of those for next year. Thanks for sharing. Luvs

I got home too late last night to order, so there is still time to fix mistakes. Paul- Plants can cook in the mailbox here; I know this from experience and so usually don't order anything after March. BTW, I would have had your Rook in a second but it was sold out. I was looking for your Song of the Stars instead of AB but RV doesn't seem to have it. It was your website that introduced me to Gallicas years ago - I can't thank you enough. Lance- Actually none of the roses are going to be very near each other. Thanks for reminding me about the size of Tuscany Superb though, as I did want a rose to balance Belle de Crecy on the other side of a bay tree. How about Orpheline de Juillet instead? I guess I just got caught up in Gallica Greed! Olga- Orpheline de Juillet wasn't on your list; do you know anything about it? Other than the woman who gave me BdC, I don't know anyone that gardens, except for completely vegetable gardens (I do veggies too). I do want the roses to spread out a bit, and I am quite prepared to be ruthless (I'm weird - I like pulling plants out almost as much as I like growing them). I've seen SdlM growing here and it it does well without spray. Balling is a problem though. Elizabeth

fbot: Hope there's room for one more bit of advice given your last post. If you establish an asparagus bed correctly, it will stay put for years and years, and spread a bit. The soil and care requirements are fairly exacting at the start and unless you want to do the same job three times, it may be better to put them all in one place. If you're looking for the lacy foliage effect in all three spots, consider using fennel, instead, for testing. It's a practically instantaneous plant. If you're trying to find the best spot to grow asparagus, do some more research on great conditions and save yourself a bunch of work. Once asparagus is established, it's tough to move. You can bounce fennel around anywhere you'd like. Told 'ya you'd get hooked!!! :-) Martie

I'd do it in a heartbeat if I thought there was any need to. But I would do it from a distance, since if I had the slightest question about my husband's loyalty, one of us would be out of the house. I would certainly use an annonymous computer, a made-up name and throw-away e-mail address. As to writing style? My husband couldn't pick out something I wrote if I gave him a choice of 2 examples--how often do husbands actually read anything their wives write, anyway? and writing styles are often quite different from speaking ones. It's, of course, a good idea to get some legal advice. You do need to be starting to protect your share of the assets if you think he's messing around and lying, for one thing, and you really don't want to do something that will come back to bite you. You will probably want to get your own lawyer, rather than using the one you and your husband go to. And don't forget to change the beneficiaries on things like--life insurance, annuities, your retirement, etc. I've known a couple of people who were surprised that their ex's were able to get a portion (in one case most of) their retirement incomes. If there's even a slight chance something is wrong, change those things now. you can always change them back later, if you work things out. Good luck.

Check out this link for the ribbon tree. I think it could get you close.

It looks like they either used gold edged leaves or cut lengths of ribbon and overlapped the ends to get the look that was in the original pictures.

You know I have done what seems to be hours of searching for 'ribbon trees' and this site never came up. I want to thank you so much for this...I do believe this is on the right track for sure!!

I like that ribbon and lace tree! Think I could do that. I even went to ebay and tried to find ribbon trees. Didn't find a ribbon tree, but liked this berry one too. Figured I might as well share so my search time wasn't wasted! LOL
