Jeannespines, I feel blessed to have a such wonderful family that tolerates my little obsessions. They just laugh and say "Mom's playing with the dishes again".

Punk, not tired of doing the tables...just tired of having to put up stuff when I take it off the table. LOL! Seriously, this many tables hasn't, up until now, been normal for me simply because I didn't have the time and energy. However I am now officially one of the many unemployed people in this country, not by choice though, so I have time to play around with table settings. Although if I want to keep feeding my little dish habit, I'm going to soon need to find a job.

Jane, sometimes I wish we could go back to more glamorous days when ladies wore gloves and hats and sparkling jewelry. When I see old photos of ladies dressed like this, they always look so elegant to me. Well, maybe I wouldn't want to do it every day, but once in a while would be fun!

Judith, I do adore black and silver together and my daughters had a ball with this one! They helped me pick out the jewelry to use. Although my middle daughter did ask me if I had lost my marbles making up a story to go along with the table. LOL!

Kathleen, I've had problems posting too! Hope this is soon fixed. As for the tiara, it's been with me a long time and is really looking a little sad now. When I was a little girl, I loved the movie Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren. I just knew one day I was going to be a princess like she was. Yeah, right...LOL! Occasionally my mother would go to the jewelry store and they had the most beautiful tiaras in there. I wanted one so bad and then one day my mother surprised me with this one! It's been alot of years since then and I was really young, but I can still remember how I felt when she put it on me. For that moment in time, I truly was a princess.

Dream, thank you for a wonderful trip into a glamorous little fantasy. I so enjoyed it. Your table is just beautiful. And I especially loved hearing about your tiara and how you truly were a Princess that special day.

A WOW of a New Years table & the fantasy story made me think of the Titanic or Gone With The Wind movies!

I love this tablesetting. Saved some of your pictures for future reference. For some reason, the pictures and the interwoven story reminded me of Victoria and Albert. What an era!

Karen, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! My teenage daughter said it was really stupid to make up a story, but I had fun doing it. Teenagers...what do they know!!

Yachter, I totally agree! The first time I saw the picture, I thought of Titanic.

OA, I love the Victorian era. If I could have any house I wanted, it would be a Victorian one full of antique furniture.

Luvs, I bet you've already given your GD loads of special memories and may not even realize it! I bet when my mother bought this tiara for me, she never realized what it really means to me. She for sure never thought that 40-something years later I'd be using it to set a table! LOL!! I've got to show these pictures to her. I bet she'll get a big kick out of them.

Punk, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've got to go to the state Career Center tomorrow to sign up for all my benefits. There's so much stuff that I have to do...it's really all overwhelming. I think I'm using the dishes as an "escape".

excessfroufrou, I made the name cards from vintage postcards. It's really easy to do and I love hunting for old ones to use. I know people probably wonder why I use them so much when it's just the four of us here, but I love seeing the little graphics on them and it's just plain fun!

Do you want to be called Dream or Kim? Any way, I'll bet you could be right with using your dishes as an escape. Wish you lived closer cuz I plan to hire someone tomorrow. However, I don't know how much work we would get done with our dish fettish.

Just want you to know that I will keep you in my prayers and stay positive and all will work out for you. It's easy to be overwhelmed and I'm so blessed with our businesses doing so well. I would love to hear what your DM has to say when you show her your pictures with the tiara.

This is a very nice and original story for a New Year's Eve in family! I would never think about it before having read here.

I also really enjoyed looking at your table setting which is in my opinion a wonderful one! Unusual for a dinner but definitely wonderful!
