A 7 foot vanity - one centered sink - Help with mirror!

We are so lucky to be able to expand our masterbathroom over top of our deck.... allowing us a larger closet, a larger bathroom and a screened in porch!

But, the details... I will have a 7 foot vanity of granite with a sink. My husband will have a smaller vanity. But, with a 7 feet of space, a centered sink, sconces on each side of a mirror... I need help to determine the size of the mirror!

I want to be able to keep the mirror just over the sink area so art work or other items may be along that wall. Any suggestions for the mirror?

What is the size of the sink?

Will you be able to sit at part of the vanity?

If, for example you went with a 24" wide mirror, you would have 30" on each side for sconces + artwork

I have similar size space set out for my vanity, and I just ordered a 15x35 medicine cabinet from Nutone. Will put some nice size contemporary mirrors to each side. I got the idea from porcelanosausa.com they have a lot of contemporary styles and went with thin tall mirrors some even thinner then that. This way I can pick some pretty tiles for wall surrounding. I am also putting in a sm. flat screen TV on same wall that can be seen from all areas in the room. You can use the link to see some nice pictures

There are 2 sinks that share the same drain. So they are mounted closer together, about 15" apart, with drawers at both ends of the vanity. I was also thinking of not enough lighting, hence I am leaning towards 4 light fixture. But some of those light fixtures looks huge, and I don't want to over power the smallish room with its presence. There will also be 2 recessed lights on the ceiling, but those are centered in the room (size about 80 sqft and 86" ceiling), not over the vanity.

Hello everyone I am so sorry for the late response. My little one got sick .. Thanks for all of your suggestions and comments! I truly appreciate them! I understand that what I would like to have is not going to fit in the current vanity layout we have right now. There is no time for us to change the layout now. They have started installing granite and we want them to meet the deadline to finish the house or we will be left without a place to stay! So we have decided to go with the single mirror for now. There is no point now in worrying over not having extra storage that we may or may not need in the vanity in the future. If after living in the house for couple of months we feel like we need extra vanity storage, I will add extra storage under the makeup area or in the master closet. But I will for sure replace this vanity sometime in the future with a more useful one :) Sophie Wheeler we live in Northern Louisiana. I looked up the guidelines you are talking about. I wish we knew about these before. But are they firm rules or just guidelines? The builder already sold a house with a similar layout last year so I am assuming he had the same vanity there and it passed inspection. I do not know for sure but why would anyone build something knowing it will fail inspection? :/

I recently remodeled and changed the double sinks for one sink plus a nice area where I can sit down for my ablutions. I wanted the increased counter space as well as the increased storage space. I don't spend that much time over a sink anyway so I don't see what the big deal is to have one sink. I especially think it is ridiculous when I see two sinks crammed into a small vanity with a tiny bit of counter space - so big deal you have a dysfunctional bathroom space but you have two sinks. I remodeled for my needs and my aesthetic vision. I am not planning to move and if someone doesn't like it, they can fairly easily just reconnect the plumbing and add the second sink. In terms of mirror treatment, I did a ceiling to counter wall to wall mirror but then put two different mirror treatments above the sink and the "grooming area". The wall to wall mirrors lightens and enlarges my rather small space and the two different mirror treatments differentiate it as well. I also have two Art Deco style sconces above the sink and a version a makeup lighting above the grooming sit down area.

How did this happen? Clearly the plumber did not have the correct centerlines and plumbed the sinks in the wrong spots. This should have been caught at the drawing stage, assuming you had the vanity you wanted from the beginning. If you purchased the vanity afterwards, then you should have made sure the cabinet centerlines were aligned with the faucets. Water under the bridge, however. I don't think you can re-plumb without tearing out the cabinet and the wall tile. So take the suggestion above of getting rectangular mirrors that are centered on the sinks.

The sink will be a standard oval undermount (white) on granite. I will not have any "sit down space". The cabinets are standard height (not extra high) since I'm short.
I've ordered these lovely sconces on line (Ovation by Tech Design). They are "funky" but have the brushed nickel with what they call Tahoe Pine Amber glass.
With such a large space, I'm wondering more abut the dimensions of the mirror. Is the 15 x 35 size working well?

I was wondering how something like a 26 x 40 would look?
I'd also like it to be a framed mirror...

Suggestions?
