Information on old book needed

At an auction a few weeks ago, I purchased a large book: over 600 pages, 17 1/4 x 12 1/2 inches. It was published by Mrs. Frank Leslie, New York, in 1896. The title is Frank Leslie's Illustrated Famous Leaders and Battle Scenes of the Civil War. The book is a pictorial history of the Civil War. There are many fantastic two-page-wide illustrations, which are actually printed on one sheet of paper (in order to be removed from the book??). I would appreciate any information regarding the value of this book. Thanks!

A Google search turns up many references. Depending on the condition of your book, it could be worth a couple of hundred.A first edition could be worth more. Do a search and find a rare book dealer.

There is a treasure trove of information on OGRs on google, specifically google books. It's harder to get into now than it used to be, but the info is there. East coasters and southern rose growers need to (at least) know that Mary C. Rion's Ladies' Southern Florist has excellent chapters on growing roses. Ladies Southern Florist has been in my library since 2008 (a second copy arrived as a Christmas gift from a good friend that winter). Amazon has them used; I willingly paid full price and would again.

Thank you! I plan to take the book to a rare book dealer for appraisal. The illustrations are fascinating.

I used to buy from this rare book store when they had a brick and mortar location. Now they are online only.
