Just bought the Land Rover LR3.....

20 years ago

and it's so fabulous!! I was driving the BMW X-5. It seemed too small, but so many other SUV's were too big. Then I found out about this car/truck/suv, and it was all over. This rig has everything I want. More room, great looks(I know not everyone will agree, but it is distinctive, unlike the poor X-5 which now looks like so many others). It drives like a dream, isn't too big, but has 7 passenger seats. Check it out and see what you think.....

I just bought the '02 Mazda 2300 truck. It's just fabulous. It's so much better than the 1/2 ton I was driving before. This rig is everything I wanted, economy AND utility. Rides kinda rough, and has a full size spare! Check it out, see what you think!

Now if this Rover were built in the good ole USA - based on some Ford design, as Ford owns LR , then this is indeed good news..
Also that someone is satisfied is also good - we need more of this..

Ahhhh yes! Those were the days when kids *were* kids! I remember my kids doing some of the same things, like playing outside until 10 at night, and not worrying about them being kidnapped. Parma, rat fink~I forgot that one, but remember saying it. LOL And my best friend of 50 years who lives back in IL still says supper, as do most small town mid-westerners. And then there were the 'grillers'. Those were the tough guys(and a few girls)who wore the leather jackets, and we would cross the street if they were walking on our side. Moonshadow, yep, lighting bugs, and we would catch them and put them in a jar!! Now if I find a bug in the house, i'll pick it up and put it outside, even an ant. I remember when you couldn't buy pantyhose, and had to wear that god-awful garder belt(no lace, plain elastic)and hose w/no stretch in them....but maybe seams. I wouldn't trade those days for anything!(((()))))

Someone ran into me back in Nov and totaled my 2008 ES 350 Lexus, and I purchased the the 2016, same model, shortly afterwards. I didn't test drive any other car! I love the way it sits, not too high or too low, as with many of the new models. It has every option known to man, a very generous trunk, and spacious back seat. I've had a couple of 'altercations' with heavy truck treads on the road, which caused absolutely no damage to the under carriage. DD has a Kia and had the same thing happen,and did cause damage and a part needs replacing. It also feels heavier than most cars I have ridden in as a passanger. Also free car wash any time I need/want. ;)

freeoscar: Thanks so much! We've never purchased any extended warranties on the various appliances replaced over the years, but this is our first reno and appliance overhaul (if I had it my way, I would've just reinstalled my 25 y/o, tried-and-true, still-going-strong Whirlpool oven -- no electronics!). $1,404 seems like quite a chunk of change. Thankfully, at least for now, Bosch has their own crew of service reps in the area (Houston), and the technician (factory trained) assigned to us earlier this year seemed to know what he was doing. A Bosch CSR confirmed that the original warranty begins on delivery date, not installation date. (This is why I was confused, too, about why Bosch was contacting me now/August....am curious to know when the clock starts ticking on the 4 years.) I mentioned that, due to reno delays that were beyond our control, the cooktop + vent may not be installed until January -- which meant we had only three months to run them through their paces. She said technically that was true, but if we did happen to encounter issues early on (but beyond the original warranty), Bosch would/might take into account the installation date. She did make note of our conversation (we'd called on other occasions to confirm installation specs, and they'd documented those calls/conversations). I'm hoping that if they have a track record of issues with an appliance, they'll take care of their customers...fingers crossed, anyway.

I have no doubt that you'll love your RR and the cooled seats are a must in your area. I used to think they were over-kill but they're in the new F-Pace S that DH just bought and I will definitely get them in my next car. His seats are black and I swear that they get hotter than my beige ones so the cooled vents help. While DH loves his Jaguar I think it's just a tad too small for my purposes and probably for yours too. He traded in his MB sedan because he wanted something that was sporty and more fun to drive. He opted for the gasoline engine because I have a diesel MB SUV and that's the one we take on trips - better mileage and much larger than his car. His car also has the gas saving feature where the engine shuts off when the car is stopped - but you can also turn that off which is what we did. I wonder if you will have that choice with your RR? My car only has 30,000 miles on it and my DDIL needs a vehicle now that they moved out of the city to the suburbs. DS offered to buy mine since it's big enough for his 2 dogs and future children. I just have to find a replacement vehicle and I'm looking at RR. We want another diesel and MB, Porsche and Audi stopped making diesels in the US. I also detest run-flats and I think I can still get real tires at LR/RR. You'll have to report back and let us know what you finally picked - and photos too. Maire

This reminded me of an incident last August at the local grocery store in nearby Manchester, Vermont. A very "old money" town.

I was waiting for my wife when some clown from Connecticut comes plowing into the parking lot in his tricked out Hummer. You know, chrome "brush gards" that'll never see anything more than a lawn, big fat knobby off road tires that'll never see a gravel road in their lifetime, spinners that keep spinning after the truck stops, etc. You get the picture. "HEY LOOKIT ME!!"

Well as Dimbulb is driving in looking for a parking space, there's this little lady maybe in her 70s walking her groceries out. She stops and just watches him go by.

He pulls into a spot and as he walks by her he says "Betcha you never seen nothin' like THAT before, huh?" She smiles and says, "No I can't say I have."

Well it seems he parked right next to her. As ahe puts her groceries into her $90,000 Supercharged Range Rover.

As she is pulling out, I'm laughing and she's probably saying to herself, "The riff raff is here."
