Bluestar ignitor problem
Comments (29)Our Dacor range has had similar problems. It used to click 'forever', and sometimes ignite, sometimes not. Dacor replaced the igniters and wiring with a revised style - which was a huge improvement. But now it often keeps clicking for 20 seconds or so after ignition. Dacor replaced the ignition module, but this didn't help much. So we are living with it. Drives SWMBO batty. FWIW, the ignition module that Dacor uses is made by an Australian company - Tytronics. Ours uses model RI-306 - a 6-burner model. You can find them with google. I sent them email with some technical questions on this, but received no reply. Nice customer service... I wonder if Viking, and Bluestar also use Tytronics products? One other thing: By both Dacors and Tytronics' technical documentation, it seems proper electrical grounding is important to these ignition modules. I tried both 3-wire and 4-wire setups, but have not seen much difference between the two....See MoreBlueStar RNB oven door opening angle problem
Comments (7)trevorlawson, thanks for uploading the temporary picture of your school's RNB. I appreciate it. I cannot extend my bottom rack out nearly as far as your example. I'm estimating that my bottom roller rack extends 10-12" less than yours before hitting the oven door. Even with your example range, I feel that BlueStar has a design flaw with their hinges on this model. The rack shouldn't be impacting the inside of the door. There should be some clearance underneath the rack in order to pull the rack out of the oven without impacting the hot interior oven door face. The bottom rack should be able to be fully extended in order to lift out your heaviest dutch oven....See MoreBlueStar Range Problems
Comments (22)I have looked into this because it all sounded a little funny. In the interest of full disclosure Chef Chris missed a few details.... probably unknowingly. Bluestar sold the range to Oakton distributors who went bankrupt in 07 (it is possible Bluestar never got paid for the range), the range was purchased by a company called Grants in a Liquidation sale, Grants sold this range to Chef Chris in 08. Grants is NOT an Authorized Bluestar Retailer. All ranges purchased via a bankrupt salesÂÂ.. DO NOT carry any manufactures warranty..................I think the term is SOLD AS SEEN Bluestar did try to fix the problems as stated, clearly on a range with no warrantyÂ. they shouldnÂt have gone out at all but they did, maybe rather than being an unresponsive manufacturer they actually tried to helpÂÂÂÂÂÂ. Bluestar has now supplied Chef Chris with all service contractors in the area so he can make contact to fix the problems. NO doubt this range was sold cheap and sold as seen by Grants. Chris..... it seems on the face of it you took a risk by purchasing a range that was from a liquidation stock sale and from a non authorized dealer that has no warranty........ if you were not aware that it was from bad stock or the retailer was not authorized then you were mislead by the retailer, i don't think Bluestar are at fault here...See MoreBluestar installation question - is 11/16' necessary?
Comments (5)1.25-inch granite and soapstone (at least) are mounted directly to the cabinet tops. 0.75 marble could be considered a bit weak for support over a wide span so a plywood underlayment might be deemed a good idea. (For more qualified opinions, the Kitchen forum would be the place to ask.) Just guessing here, but Bluestar may have UL or some other agency approval based on a height differential. This differential could be driven by the potential for the counters to be made of combustible material. Contacting Bluestar might be useful in this case, as your 3/4 marble would provide the needed height over the plywood. kas...See Morecastironcook2
