Comments (7)trevorlawson, thanks for uploading the temporary picture of your school's RNB. I appreciate it. I cannot extend my bottom rack out nearly as far as your example. I'm estimating that my bottom roller rack extends 10-12" less than yours before hitting the oven door. Even with your example range, I feel that BlueStar has a design flaw with their hinges on this model. The rack shouldn't be impacting the inside of the door. There should be some clearance underneath the rack in order to pull the rack out of the oven without impacting the hot interior oven door face. The bottom rack should be able to be fully extended in order to lift out your heaviest dutch oven....See MoreProblem with Blue Star vent
Comments (5)When the baffles are out for each cleaning, use some detergent such as Simple Green and a cloth to clean all of the hood interior surfaces that you can reach. It may be of interest that the baffles collect only the larger end of the grease particle spectrum, and the finer particles continue up the hood and through the ducting to the outside (ideally). These particles can collect on other surfaces that they pass. Extraction efficiency of the baffles and of the externally blown air is a function of the air velocity. Too low and the baffles won't capture as much due to less centrifugal action on the particles, and the remaining particles moving more slowly in the hood and duct can also deposit more of their number on the passing surfaces. I've come to the conclusion that even when the greasy effluent upward velocity* is well below the peak value that the vent system should be designed for, the blower should not be run at a level just sufficient for capture and containment of the low velocity plume, but at a higher speed to improve baffle capture and reduce duct condensation. kas ___ * Plume velocity can be quite low when browning up certain greasy foods such as precooked frozen sausage....See MoreBlue Star grill problem
Comments (1)Well, o one answered me but I got the problem fixed and thought I would share. It turns out that the wire that leads to the hot surface igniter shorted out. My super, who is very handy, took the grill apart, used a wire stripper to fix the wire, and put it back together. Perfect. The hot surface igniter was fine. That is what is great about the Blue Star--it's all mechanical. I handy person can fix just about anything that goes wrong with it....See Moreguadalupe
