Newbie to roses and need some help identifying, please.
Comments (6)Hmmmmm - no scent at all? That is consistent with Peace. (Exasperating disclaimer of the reality: some people find Peace to be delightfully fragrant, but others (including me) find Peace to have no scent whatsoever. :-)) If it's Peace, you'll know soon enough as it opens. It has an ethereal beauty that is breathtaking! I believe I've read before that at least for a while after it was introduced, at rose shows it won so many blue ribbons that show hosts created a separate class just for Peace blossoms so that the rest of the hybrid tea entries wouldn't automatically lose to it! Consequently its legacy in progeny is huge. I grow two hybrid teas in my little condominium area (Fragrant Cloud and Paul Shirville). BOTH are grandchildren of Peace....See MoreNeed some help with identifying random plants, please
Comments (7)I am certainly hoping for many "visitors"...there were a good number of butterflies that passed through my yard last year without any gardens, so I really just wanted to convince them to hang out a little longer this year! My work hours are cut back for the summer so I need some sort of hobby to keep me occupied until September! I also love taking pictures and am looking forward to some great shots. Everything here is pretty much trial and error based on internet research...I came across a couple sites that claimed zinnias are good for the local butterflies here in south Jersey. We'll see!...See Moresome help identifying please
Comments (5)Have patience, asleep. Sometimes it takes time for an answer to appear. Do you have a garden club near you? If so, you might get in touch with them to see if there is an interest in ficus plants. Have you tried any of the other forums to see if there is any information in one of those? I wish you good luck in finding the answer to what your ficus plant is. Whatever it may be, it's a pretty little plant and looks healthy to me. :) noss...See MoreHelp identifying some plants please
Comments (1)Just a guess on the top one, Mirabilis jalapa, it's common name "Four O'clock" a slightly perfumed plant with flowers opening late afternoon - a variety of colours from pure whites and reds and pinks to a mixture. Very drought-hardy. If you see largish black seeds forming where the flowers were, that's probably it. It forms a big underground root like a dahlia. the second I think is Alyssum, "Sweet Alice" of which there are a few colours, an annual but self-seeds readily. IF I am correct it would not be worth your while transplanting it as it is, shake the seed heads all over where you would like to re-produce it and give it a severe cut-back and re-plant - sometimes they will carry on for a 2nd year of growth. Good luck with your new garden....See More- 13 years ago
