can anyone tell me what this pattern is called?

i have a few other miscellaneous pieces, mostly smaller spice jars and the salt and pepper shaker set. there are no markings that i can find. i just like it and would like to be able to search for more pieces. any idea what it is called? they've been in storage since the mid 50's.

A picture of the back stamp would be a great help.

linda, there was no marking on this one, so i checked out the other pieces. they say -- hand painted japan - there's a 5 petal flower-like 'seal' with an H in the middle of it, on the bottom on the pieces..

unfortunately I havent been able to track down the origin of this photo. This is exactly what we would like to do the floor in our Kitchen. I have asked around and it seems like most places I have asked agree that it is slate. I have found a few places where I am able to get it, the issue is that some places only have two sizes, so there would be a lot of cutting. We would prefer to do this pattern, but if we cant figure it out, we may just do versailles or similar. I guess we want teh people laying down to be able to do it without screwing it up also.

Scottish Bond is a pattern of installing the brick. Not the brick itself. If you don't like the color of your brick, there is brick stain available that can be applied to change the color. However, if you are looking to update the appearance of your home, I would start by painting the shutters and front door a darker, more contrasting color and replacing the leggy bushes in front.

Thanks, I'm just trying to find some pictures of beds made up with it so I can get a "whole room" idea. With it all folded up like that I really can't wrap my mind around what the finished bed would look like. I'm trying to recreate, on tight budget, the feel of a room I fell in love with on Pinterest. It's not that pattern .... Actually more of a jacobean but I was hoping the damask might be an okay substitute. I just can't quite imagine it though, was looking for a picture of the bedding made up.

Yeah, I think this pattern is from Japan.

I still would like to see a picture of the mark.
It's from the 30's...perhaps the 40's...But if it were post war, it would say "made in occupied Japan". Until 1952, I believe....and I think it's older than that.

linda, this is what is on the pieces i have. my pix were not coming out at all, so being the persistent bugger that i am, i was able to find a great site identifying all types of japanese pottery markings.

i would really like to know the name of this pattern, as i would like to acquire more pieces, if they are available.

i just wanted to add that this is what was under this mark on the site i listed above:

Might be of the Hotta Yu Shoten & Co. The use of the word "Shoten" indicates the name for a shop which is selling products from its own kiln. In either case they seems to have went out of business in 1947. This mark likely to be from the 1920-30's.

How about basketweave?
I would be looking for Hotta Yu Shotten basketweave.
