A little something extra I have done for gifts is use business card stock and print what's in the jar and how to cook/use it. I then punch a hole in the corner and tie it to the jar with a bow. Ribbon or raffia work well. For example, on my peach pie filling jars, the business card says Peach Pie Filling (and I include a cute clip art peach) and the instructions to simply pour the contents into an 8" pie shell, vent the top crust or make a lattice and bake at 350 until crust is brown and pie is bubbly. On my corn chowder, I include the instructions to add cream and any optional ingredient such as 1/3 cup of cheese, leftover chicken, salmon, lobster, or almost any leftover seafood.

I thought I wasn't alone. I answered all the questions in the survey, maybe 10 different areas as vaguely as possible without providing any info. I'm guessing that most sites rely on advertisers to keep them up and running so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I guess it could be worse. I LOVE this site and wouldn't want to jeopardize being removed from all the incredible and insightful information everyone has provided. It's just a shame that they allow that obnoxious banner ad.

Firefox with the adblock, noscript and flashblock extensions will eliminate any and all pop-up problems you might have. Gardenweb won't allow me to link directly to the pages the extensions are found on; however, if you perform a search here you will easily find them. Apart from learning how to manage extensions and the occasional poorly coded website (in that case, you may be stuck opening an internet explorer window) there is little to no learning curve in using firefox. The icons are so similar that I often don't really notice which browser I'm using if I'm using someone else's computer. Ryan

Thanks, Angie, I'll look again because I missed it the first time around. Still can't figure out why these suddenly reappeared. drachiele, I stated that I understand the need for ads. I know this isn't a charity. However, this type of ad isn't only annoying, it affects me negatively. Excessive visual stimuli - a category these fall into - cause my chronic disease symptoms to flair up. They have the right to make money but I have the right to protect my health.
