When we looked at Electrolux we were told sometimes Electrolux will offer a 10% off sale but store unable to give any other discounts, etc. for this brand. In fact, we just bought a Samsung as DH liked it so much. We got the CD S x S rather than FD as it better suits us. It was much less $$$ than the Electrolux although the Samsung CD FD was more $$ than the S x S.

You should get feedback from people here that have the Electrolux.

I agree with you in that Samsung and Electrolux from a design pov were pretty similar. If we had a few more inches in the frig's travel path, we could have bought a Samsung model that we liked a great deal. Instead, we are hoping to have an Electrolux CD FD model installed in a few weeks.

The 10% discount might still be in play if you check out Electrolux' website.

Check out AJ Madison. The 10% rebate (in the form of a cash card) is valid until 21 Feb so act fast! You may want to ask your local Sears if thier upcoming friends and family sale on 21 Feb from 6-9pm is good on Electolux. If so that is a combined 30% off but you need to add local tax. Normally Electrolux excludes themselves form these promotions. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Or you can go with the cheaper IQ Touch panel but you also lose the 3rd drawer in the freezer.

Some Samsung models have dual heat exhangers and the freezer and fridge sections do not share air. This is supposed to be better... but Samsung had issues with thier fidges that are well documented. What is not clear is if they have fixed those issues.

Many thanks to all helping me out. There is a 10% rebate from Electrolux and I'm working with Sears for an extra 5%. If I pick up and install this item myself I will pay only3.5% tax. I'm in NJ, normal tax is 7%. and no installation/delivery fee therefore. This is additional savings of $180.00! Then, I believe in April there will be a ENERGY STAR REBATE OF MAYBE 75 dollars.Furthermore,I guess I can write off of the FRIDGE. Only about 5yrs old SS but it's a s x s and with this growing family things are difficult to access. I'm trying to cut my food losses and I estimate a nearly $500.00/yr food loss due to either laziness of searching for perishables or just unaware of it's presence. Please don't redicule, I hear you loud and clear. But if you have any suggestions I'm a good listener.

We paid for this very model this week but put a hold on it before it was ordered. DH really likes some of the water features on the Whirlpool Gold 27 cf (GI7FVCXWY - FD, SD, SS) and even with the rebate on E'lux it's $300 less. I really liked some of the features of the E'lux (LED lighting inward, temp-controlled drawer, gliding drawers, matches our E'lux induction range) but not enough to override DH's leaning. Plus, at first we hadn't even planned to get new appliances, so when I look at it that way, anything we can save on any of them will be that much less over-budget, as long as it is fairly comparable in quality and reliability. (DH said he didn't know it was even possible to spend over $3000 on the kind of fridge that we would have in our home.)

We were all set on the Samsung as well until we went to this locally-owned store that's been in business for many years with employee longevity (where we ended up buying all our appliances). They dropped Samsung because their CS was so bad (not sure about product quality and problems - it has won some JD Power awards but I don't know what that means).

Our local Appliance store also opted out of carrying Samsung for the same CS reason.

We bought the counter depth version of this fridge yesterday. (EW23BC71IS)

Actually we brought all our kitchen appliances yesterday - all from Electrolux. We got about 5 bids and found that each retailer offered 1/2 appliances slightly cheaper.

We went with one that was willing to match everyone else plus came recommended by our builder.

Our biggest savings was on the fridge - $450 below list.

This whole package total including taxes comes to $13,200 and than we have a $400 rebate from electrolux.
So grand total including taxes we paid $12,800 with free delivery.
No other store that was bidding was able to beat this price so we took it.

My Electrolux CD wave FD refrigerator was purchased in July 2009 and has been a major problem. The ice maker needs to be replaced, the door gaskets are shredding, cold air leaks into the wall behind the veggie drawer and causes fresh produce to freeze. Ice cubes and crushed ice spew onto the floor while the paint behind the ice maker is wearing away. The tech who was here today said Electrolux products are not quality and I will probably junk this $3600 unit in about a year.

Please say that you are kidding. Before the one year warranty is up, I'd start insisting that the whole unit needs to be exchanged or at the most, fully refunded. I know things like this happen and it did a while ago for me when I went with the newly intorduced Maytag ice2O. That thing completely failed.
Within the year I got totally refunded.

I would stay away from ANY Electrolux regfrigerator!
I was told that Electrolux products were good quality. How far from the truth! My refrigerator (3yrs. old, model:E23C75DSS4) has been a major disappointment. Many of my problems started right away.
1. The seal on the freezer must not be tight, because shortly after I bought it a had a pound of dead ants on the bottom shelf of the freezer.
2. It is very loud and runs almost constantly. My 30 year old GE was less noisy.
3. The coating, that is supposed to make the stainless steel smudge-proof works very well, but shortly after we bought it it started to bubble up.
4. The doors are not aligned. One is higher than the other and sticks further out.
5. It is supposed to a counter depth. That is absolutely not true. When the doors are opened all the way they will hit the edge of your counter top.
6. The doors are supposed to have a mechanism that prevents them from flying open past a 40 degree angle, unless you want them too. That "stop" does not work anymore. Now we have to hold the door in a position that will keep it from hitting the counter top.
7. By year two some sticky brown fluid had leaked out of the bottom right door hinge, causing it too creak very loudly when being opened.
I get sick to my stomach when I think that I paid $2000 for this. It is not worth more than $500.
Unfortunately, due to the reputation of Electrolux in Europe, we did not think that we needed to buy the extended warranty.

Avoid the Electrolux EW28BS71IS!!! Bought mine in July '09 because liked the size and features. However, within 15 days the freezer and ice maker died. Fortunately, the store we purchased it replaced it because it was within the 30 day time frame. But second unit ( also Hecho in Mexico ) died, too. Electrolux was very good at sending a repair service to our home and repaired it, however, the ice maker continues to stop working around ever 6-8 months and needs to be replaced!!! It's been a $3600 mistake!!!!!
