It should have been removed before the resurfacing.

How thick is the caulk? Did they resurface over the caulk? If you post a photo, perhaps Bill or Mongo can provide some direction. Just wondering if a razor blade could score the edge in order to get under the caulk to remove it, then replace with caulk to cover the area exposed (just a thought--the experts will know better).

The caulk was removed before they resurfaced the tub, but then new caulk was applied afterward (to the line between the tub and tile). There's nothing over the caulk. I was thinking that, too, that maybe I could use a razor blade very carefully at the edge and then apply a thick layer of caulk to cover up any scratches I make. I can post a picture if someone wants, but it's a pretty typical caulk application.
