Im a little confused because I was told it was an Eastlake Style....but then again, I dont know anything about this kind of stuff. Anyhow, here are the pictures you asked for. I'm laughing, but I'm starting to believe you are really insulting me. LOL I surely hope not. The house is under construction, here are some photo's of the exterior. Dry wall is starting on Friday. I don't describe it as a doozy, but I think it's going to be a really nice house when it's finished. It's not real big, only 1,900 sq. ft., 1,200 of which are closets. No, just kidding, but I did want big closets so the actual living area is not 1,900. It's small in comparison to most homes I see on this forum, but my DH, pets and I don't need anything larger. We designed it and are building it for us, no one else, just us. We've been at it for 4 years and in 9-10 more months we'll be in. When we pass on, the ones left with the house can determine if it's suitable for someone else. We didn't build it with resale in mind, just us. I hope you better understand why this house has to be the way we want it and of course what we can afford. That vanity might be extravagant to you, but believe me overall the house was completed on a tight budget. We had to make sacrifices in some areas so we could splurge in others. I have 2 cheapo vanities in the master bath, that togther won't cost what this one did, but they look good and unless I tell anyone, like I just did you and 20,000 others, no one will know by looking at them. Originally I wanted the antique piece of furniture for the master, but to get one to convert with 2 bowls would have cost upwards of $2,000. That was nuts to us, not $500. See, we make compromises where we think they are necessary. I would never want you talking to my DH, if it were up to him we'd have trouble lights for lighting. HA! He's put them up in the celling and call them the new recessed!! He's very happy with the vanity and well, his is the only other opinion I need on this purchase. Yes...Eastlake....and the drop[ pulls are accurate....are you missing some? If you do get new....keep the old ones and only replace what's needed. The nails show because there were decorations, veneer and perhaps a rosette and someone removed them....and the nails are what's left. Pity. But it's still very nice... It's several kinds of wood....I don't see any walnut but then I am not close to it....likely butternut, which is a walnut variety but lighter in color...and perhaps maple and birch. Would have had at one time burl trim. Linda c

I thought I’d update my original post to show the finished piece, which I completed right before Christmas. The amount of effort expended far exceeds what you’d think. But, having started, I very stubbornly refused to quit. The hardest part turned out having the marble cut down to size. The friend of a friend who cut it for me did not follow the lines I drew on it, but cut it a good 3 mm too large to fit. That necessitated grinding it down by hand, then filing, sanding down and polishing. No one rents a wet saw around here, and it took the friend who has contractor neighbors months to find someone who would do it, and then unwillingly but only because he owed my friend a favor. The opening, despite appearances, was not a symmetrical square...so I filed to fit. Then the top was stripped. The bad stains did not come out, so I bleached them out with oxalic acid, which was a story in itself. Sanding, staining, varnishing: complicated by heavy rain that meant that the stain and varnish did not want to dry. I’d have to charge $1000 for it if I ever wanted to sell it. But, at long last, it’s done….
