You did it, now .... breathe....

She'll be fine, she's safe and will be well cared for, as will you.

Hugs for you, Pearl. But I agree, she will be fine and so will you. It all takes time.

AWWWW~~~ Love the poem my dear friend Blanca! Did you write that?? OK, April Fools' recap! First...I am sooooo serious most of the time and I actually pulled a small prank on 3 people AND IT WORKED EACH TIME! These were all people I know well. I said I had something in my hair and I couldn't see it. Could they see anything?? As they looked I dropped some little plastic spiders on their desk! Got screams 2 of the 3 times, followed by laughter! Now here's the weird part of the day --- In the morning I got an email from a boyfriend that I lost touch with back in 1982. I found a Valentine's card from him a few weeks ago while I was cleaning and wondered what had happened to him. It took a while searching the internet, but we connected yesterday and he was actually happy that I had made the effort. He still lives in so Cal (where I grew up). Not married, no kids...wants to keep in touch, etc. Finding old friends is just soooo great. Then I got a cute email from another guy at work that is working his way into the "friend" category. He's always been there for me during times of crisis (linkage cable break in car transmission and garbage disposal disaster last thanksgiving)...so we are working on the friendship "thing". Making friends is harder when you are older. I don't know if we put more restricitions on it or what, but it's just different. Then I get all these text messages from my "country" gentleman friend to come out and have a beer with him...which turned into 2 beer, dinner and a movie! And somewhere in between I had communications with the guy that I am interested in (always nice to hear his voice). I was on guy "FRIEND OVERLOAD" yesterday...! WHOOO HOOOO!!! K

Nice, Jnfr! I just noticed a tomato on one of the plants in the Earthbox showing color too, and then when I looked closer the bottom had a huge brown spot. Do you guys throw the whole tomato away, or cut the bad spots out? It only seems to happen to my container plants, the ones in the ground don't do that. I tried to be more consistent with my watering this year, but there was a day or two that I missed, and before I could get there, the foliage was droopy. Almost immediately the brown spots showed up on the bottoms of some of the fruit. Anyway, I have quite a few full sized tomatoes that should ripen before the first frost ... if it's not earlier than usual, that is. Oddly enough, I have some pie pumpkins that are already orange. Never knew them to ripen this early, but it's been a weird year all around.

Thank you all, especially circuspeanut with the photoshop pic - absolutely right, that's the way it's supposed to look! Now I feel really silly. Until you posted that picture, I was doing an about-face with Coco Chanel's advice ;-) The CG already brought them home yesterday to cut them down and we're going to velcro them, and then I'll post another picture. Stay tuned next week...I could just see it now - the legs will be popping on and off as I make up my mind!

Pearl, use these next few days to take GOOD CARE of yourself. Rest, sleep, try to eat properly. Can you take a day or two off from work, just to de-compress?

She will be fine. In time, she may not remember that this wasn't always her home. You are not a bad or evil daughter. On the contrary, you came to the realization that she needed more than you could provide and that you would be doing her a disservice NOT to give her what she needed. So you brought her someplace that could take care of her.

Try to get some rest tonight.

Pearl: yes, it was one of the worst days of my life, too. But let me try to comfort you with my experience....after your dear Mom as been in for a few days, you'll begin to realize that this was the best decision for HER. Although we continue to grieve our loss (and it is a loss and continues to be), I now recognize that she's in a much more stimulating environment, receiving kind, caring, and professional care, which she'll require more of than we could ever provide. Let time take its course: you'll go through all the stages of grief that one goes thru with the death of a loved one (www.alzeimers.org).

Most of all, Pearl, be kind to yourself. Know that you did this for unselfish reasons; you're a good daughter. Now you will have pleasant visits with her, you can take her walking, out for tea or lunch, for rides....knowing she'll return to her safe place. Regenerate yourself; find those things you used to enjoy and take time to re-aquaint yourself with them.

You'll see....this will get easier, I promise.

Blessings

Thinking about'cha, Pearl. I'm sure this is a bad time. You are entitled to your feelings. You will be "on top of things", I'm sure.
Your new life will take some getting used to...give yourself and your Mom some time. (((Pearl))) Derry

Pearl: I know it is hard to do, but as the others say, take this time for yourself. Your mom is in good hands and you will soon see that it was the best thing you could do for her.
