Has anyone built frank betz candler park home?
Comments (10)WE also are building a very modified version of the Candler Park. I turned the dining room into a piano room; took out the wall between the living room and kitchen; totally redid the kitchen layout; turned the pantry/laundry area into a mudroom; made the informal eating area into a laundry room; turned the keeping room into a dining room (so the living/kitchen/dining are one big area); turned the downstairs extra bedroom into an office, took out the hallway there and turned the bath into a powder room and added another closet there; upstairs we added another bathroom. Outside, we added a long back porch behind the living room/master bedroom. I'd be happy to send you our floorplan and/or pictures, although we aren't finished yet. We chose this because we loved the façade and knew we could modify the inside to meet our needs/wants....See MoreHas anyone built the Ballard home plan by Frank Betz?

Comments (28)Hey Patrick - I don’t know if you have your messaging feature enabled, but I, too, would LOVE to see the photos you have. Particularly after reading the other Ansonborough thread that only points out its flaws. I’m so in love with this house (and I’m sure my personal architect could help it be “better” if need be). My email is aquamsummers at gmail dot com. I’d appreciate it so much!!...See Morehas anyone built the Glenella Springs plan by Frank Betz?
Comments (5)SO many things wrong with this plan! What is it that YOU like about it? On a nearly 1 acre lot, the garage could be better placed. That hall that is worrying you IS worrying! I have such a hall in my own house and it's the black hole of Calcutta both in the morning (East sun doesn't penetrate) and in the afternoon (West sun doesn't either), and I only have a small porch on the front and none on the back! The pot lights must always be on in the daytime. Your DR is way too small to be even usable. My own DR is almost 13x13 and it's too small for more than 6 people and even then, one cannot get around the table on the side that is up against the small sideboard. Eight is so crowded as to be ridiculous. But at least in my house, my kitchen is bright both morning and evening, my LR is bright in the AM (faces East), as is my library (also on the front of the house), and all 3 bedrooms have dual exposure and plenty of light, as do the bathrooms. I had a weekend in which to buy a house and we bought the neighborhood, even with some big faults in the house. It was a house built in 1948. I don't regret purchasing this house, but I sure would never build it the same! You can do so much better than this plan....See Moregradingman
