What Activities Do You Do In Your MBR? ;O)
Comments (35)That joke is too funny!!! Sue - that's exactly how I feel at this time if I sneak off to my bedroom to read by myself. And honestly since time goes by so darn fast I choose to spend the extra minutes that I can find w/ my kids. Before I know it they will be teenagers and not want to be w/ mom or dad all of the time. Don't get me wrong - I get time to myself but it's usually away from the house. DH knows that if he takes the kids and leaves the house to give me time alone - he knows that I will just do stuff for the family anyways instead of just me. Beth4 - your MBR (and routine) sound absolutely divine! melle_sacto - don't get me wrong - I love both looks but they are 2 totally different looks: #1 (the one that I've loosely been basing our bedroom on) seems more 'fun' I think because of the pattern and color so to me that reads cozier: #2 As oppossed to another wonderful bedroom that is totally up my alley but has a completely different feel to it. So serene and beautiful but not as warm feeling. Does that make sense? Link below. Here is a link that might be useful: Beautiful Space (and blog)...See MoreHELP - Slumber party activity ideas needed
Comments (7)I'm assuming you're picking the girls up right after school. Would you rather let them go home & come over around 6 p.m. to give them time to decompress from their day at school? Just an idea, if the geographial logistics aren't impossible. I wouldn't get that hung up on having activities planned. Girls that age like unstructured play & to visit with each other in a relaxed atmosphere. You can let your daughter pick out a couple of videos @ the rental store that they can watch in the evening. Manicures are fun. Get out the plastic cover for the table & get small bottles of polish & let them do their nails. One game that my DD & her friends have always liked is the "rollers & cold cream" game. They have to completely roll their hair up in 6 sponge rollers & put cold cream on their faces. Whoever gets done first wins. I'd order Pizza in. There's something special about ordering & waiting for it to come. Sounds like fun! My daughter is having a sleepover in 2 weeks (she's 12). I think they're planning on chalking & forking boys houses & probably making crank phone calls. OH, to have a 9 year old again! Have fun!...See MoreHand-on/Active ideas
Comments (8)I thought of the knex too... but it did not keep the attention the way I thought it would. I think I thought it was cooler than they did. The legos have the same thing.. small amounts of attention grabbing BIG mess. As far as the mp3 player ... I have found periodically mp3 players for as little as 15 - 20 bucks which makes it much less steep. I would try and find one like that and go with the earning it with chores. But, I would make it extra chores.. things outside of what he normally should be doing. Like if he doesnt take out the trash or sweep the floor or clean the bathroom...even cleaning the car. To me, chores are part of being apart of the family so everyone does their share...it's when you do the extra stuff that earns you things. and there are always the crafty things like making wax leaves, decorating pine cones, finger painting is a good outdoor activity (at least for me since I don't like the mess on the hard wood floor), we also have done random things like go to the store and bought material to make costumes for like star wars... the girls were leia and then we had luke and obi wan. and there is always a holiday to make things for like valentines day coming up and easter... there are websites for teachers and people like that that have a million ideas.. just search creative kids and creative holiday crafts and there are about a million different websites. as far as drawing stencils and stickers are a good starting point for them... make a place for barbie sticker to stick ie big castle is drawn with fairies to bring her cupcakes and so on. or dinosaur is sleeping in its nest with eggs blah blah blah it works fairly well....See MoreIdeas for a non-contact, social activity
Comments (32)I sent the video to my family group text, but my cookbook group might find it offensive. Crude, yes. Attention getter, yes! Geezer singing it, even better. We are under a stay at home order. Yet, friends invited us over for cocktails saying we would stay on the patio and 6 feet from each other. I love these people. They are both intelligent beyond measure. They are generally rule followers. What are they thinking?!? I declined, pleading DH’s health issues. We had a Zoom b’day party for DBIL last night. It was great! Maybe we ought to do a family story thread. DN is an aspiring comedy writer, DD is fairly creative, DSIL has a wicked sense of humor.... This could be interesting! Thanks for the idea, @dedtired!...See More- 17 years agolast modified: 11 years ago
