Avon Anew products are nice and reasonably priced. I've used them.

I think the Oil of Olay anti-aging products are well liked and inexpensive. I was thinking about trying the Regenerist products to see if I like them. Easy to find everywhere.

I've tried everything in just about every price range. I really like the Olay products the best.

Cetaphil moisturizing lotion might be good for you, since it's hypoallergenic and doesn't cause breakouts. My dermatologist recommended it for me and I am happy with it.

Oil of Olay keeps coming up tops of the list, year after year...

the truth is that few of the products out there measure up to some basic kitchen science...

want a face wash with salicyclic acid? .5% in most of the on the market ones...but 3% in the store brand's psoriasis shampoo. for spot treatments, an uncoated asprin combines that with a mild abrasive (and I do mean mild) that makes a good scrub/mask.

Fancy fruit acids? are mostly derived from enzymes in papaya or pineapple - it's the same enzyme that keeps jello from setting if you use fresh pineapple, eh? in fact, the papaya is TOO strong for folks like me, who have to cut it half and half with plain yogurt.

:) I'll admit to adoring the Matis line - but I got it as a gift.

I tried Oil of Olay and have always found it okay. I really like Garnier and Aveeno products. They just feel really nice and give good results. Makeup Alley is excellent. I'm with chinacat, check out the aspirin mask.

Oil of Olay makes a great sunscreen face cream ...I can't recall the name but it costs around twelve dollars for a bottle. I use it under my makeup and get the spf 30. It doesn't smell, irritate or feel greasy at all.
The unevenness you see is mostly sun damage.

Vitamin C is a good natural sunscreen as well as wrinkle cure, if there is such a lotion. Best thing is to stay out of the sun and moisturize. I've found vit C works well, see Cellex C ads, not recommending it as I make my own vit C lotion. I think Merlot cream is an excellent antioxidant for the skin, gradually minimizes wrinkles. It contains grape seed extract which is a potent antioxidan. Its a little hard to find but it feels good, not greasy and seems to smooth out your skin. It runs close to $20 but the jar lasts a long, long time. If you have deep wrinkles, I've found mixing that cream that's supposed to solve stretch marks, can't think of name, with vit C serum/cream at night really helps. This is my own "invention"; OTC wrinkle treatments cost a fortune and work so slowly if at all.

I use Roc - white tube during the day and the brownish colored one at night- so far everyone has commented on how good my skin looks - no wrinkles and I am past middle age - Also, I use a Buf-Puf - exfoliates at no more than a couple of dollars every couple of months

I am currently using the essential reinvigorating serum by Aguacate & Co. Its packed full of berry extracts which are rich in Vit C. I love it. It makes my skin feel toned and firm and so far I'm wrinkle free. Its organic too which is a plus with me

I, too, use the Cetaphil moisturizer. It is very light, has sunscreen but no retinol. It is great for my sensitive, break-out prone, combination middle-aged skin. Actually, it is the only lotion I can remember using that doesn't eventually give me a problem; I think I've been using it for over a year.

Sounds like you're describing my exact situation as well! I am about to buy some Oil of Olay products because I like that line, mostly because of smell, consistency and price.

I think the key thing is to make sure the key ingredients are in the respective products ie., salicylic acid in a face wash, retinol in a night lotion and a minimum 15 SPF with blockers for both of the rays (UA and UVB, I think). I have yet to find a sunscreen that doesn't make my skin look oily/shiny but in the meantime I'm using Purpose Redness Reducer 30 and just trying to be consistent and use it everday.

Also, for Oil of Olay, they have Club Olay that sometimes provides free samples.

I've been using Buff Puffs since I was a teenager. They lightly exfoliate and leave you with soft glowing skin. Just don't rub too hard.

Carla, we are in the same boat. I'm trying to get myself (skin, hair, and figure) in better shape for my son's wedding this summer and have recently started using Olay Definity Pore Redefining Scrub and Neutrogena Pore Refining Cream (spf 15). I think cleaning your skin with something targeted for your "problems" is every bit as important as putting on a cream or lotion. And really effective cleansing should help with the breakouts you mentioned.

I've only been using these products for about a week but I can already see improvement - really! My skin looks and feels smoother and looks more even in tone. Even the dreaded pores look a bit better. I expect that part to take a while but I am very pleased with the results so far. I've gotten compliments - without make up.

Neither of these products is very expensive and a little goes a long way. I think they are well worth the price and the effort to use them consistently.

Soaps are very important as well.

Olay hasn't been Oil of Olay since 1999!

I have very few fine lines around the eyes and began to notice some bag and sagging on my face. I decided it was time to try growth factor product, despite profound scepticism for the hype. I purchased Perfective Ceuticals eye cream and applied it religiously every night to the under eye area and the lids. After 6 weeks the difference is unmistakeable-the skin has visibly thickened and firmed up, the bagginess has reduced markedly, and my severe dark circles have diminished considerably. I also tried Skin Medica TNS Recovery System for the face, the result is also obvious. I'm not a scientist, and can't say for sure why it's working, but it is working. You need to be regular in your use of it and patient though.

I'll have to revisit the Olay products. Years ago their face lotion was scented, and I don't like scented stuff on my face.

I'm another one that likes Cetaphil products. I use the Walmart version of their face cleanser (never soap!), and keep a pump bottle of the moisturizer outside my shower to apply first thing. At other times I use Jason's Ester C creme. Love it! I order it from vitacost.com and save quite a bit over health food store prices.

I use Burt's Bee Primrose overnight creme. I absolutely love it and have used all sorts of expensive creams for years. In my opinion, it's the best, and it only cost about 14 bucks.

It is for overnight so you really don't need a moisturizer for day. So you may want to buy a sunscreen for the A.M.

But it sounds like Oil of Olay will win. I heard that was good too.

Alisande, the Olay for Sensitive Skin is completely unscented. I don't like the scent of regular Olay either, so check out the Sensitive Skin type.

I tried the Olay for Sensitive Skin when it first came out. It may not have any added scent, but it does have a rather icky smell. I reminds me of melting plastic.

I read this thread a while back and decided to try the Cetaphil moisturizer (I have been using the fragrance free cleanser for a couple years now) and I just love it. It leaves my skin soft, and seems to help the fine lines around my eyes. Best of all it is truly fragrance free, it has no smell at all. I get migraines and am very sensitive to smells so this is very important to me. I also have rosacea and eczema and this lotion has not caused any problems for me. Thank you to those who recommended it!
