Vintage Fly Fish Tackle Collector

Hello! I'm the wife of an avid fly fishing tackle collector. Richard has been collecting, selling and trading vintage fly fish tackle for some 30 years. His collection is now about 550 bamboo rods and approx. 200 or so reels ( asst.)While he admires his collection, I sit and quilt. Presently, I doing a fishing quilt for our cottage. We love to fly fish for rainbow trout in our area. Perhaps we can share some of what is in your collection and once I understand how to post pictures, you will be able to see his fishing room Pat/Richard

Help on Posting Pics: I was a newbie to another forum and a woman was kind enough to email me instructions on how to post pics using "Photobucket" - type that in your web browser line and proceed with the instructions on how to put pics in "your album" and then follow the below instructions, it's easy once you get the hang of it:

OK, here we go. If your pictures are all ready in your album in photobucket, you'll see below the pics 3 different lines. URL, Tag, and Img. If you want the picture to appear on the page you will copy the Tag info then paste it in the message box. Then press Preview message and your image should show up. To do a link... you will need to copy the URL info then paste it in the optional link URL. Then type in the title of your link. You will also need to write something in the message box. Then hit preview message. Your link should be there. I always hit it to make sure it works. It should take you to your picture. Then hit submit.
To do the slideshows... at the top of your pictures in your album there's a button that says "bucket features" click on it. You can do a Bucket Strip, Bucket Stamp, or a Bucket Show. I've been doing the bucket show. Click on it, then click on create a bucket show. Check the pictures that you want (mine only allows me to do 10 at a time) then hit create bucket show. Make sure you put a title in the name box at the top. Then copy the URL and then paste it in the optional link Url and then put the title in the link box. Also remember to type a message in the message box.

my dad collects old fishing tackle.I can't think of the names but they are the things that go at the end of the string.I know I am not smart about fishing but am learning.Are they called lures?They are some like a fish,made out of wood,it looks like and the fish is in three parts hooked together with little hooks things.Anyways I can make some pictures and share with your husband if you would like to see some of dad's collections.He has them in a case.Dad said many his granddad gave him.Sorry to be so dumb with the words.I have a collection of cards I posted above.They are of baseball,basketball,movies,pokemom,tennis,hockey,dessert storm cards.I have a HUGE big box.I posted some of the pictures above.I also collect coins.Dad and I collect coins together.We love to collect.Also I collect rocks.Thanks for sharing about your and your husband collections.

My3dogs.. that is just awesome, I know that I have several items of my dad's and my grandfather (who by the way lived to be 105)my grandfather was just an awesome man and so was my dad.. I use to fish also with my dad and my son and his wife just built a new home and they have a pond near by and we go fishing there, so when my son and my other son do his basement into a large family room and they added another bedroom.. I wanted to give him something to hang on his wall, and so I have been collecting old fishing lures.. I buy them off of my online auctions and where ever I can find them..and I plan on making him a real neat shadow box type wall hanging.. Thanks for reminding me to also get some hand tied fishing flys.. they would sure make the collection complete.. I love your desk and you did a great job dusting not one single grain of dust any where.. LOL thanks for sharing your Father story and your desk.. Huggy

Angie_DIY - That tile looks really "old school"! But, I think the wallpaper totally trashes the tile. In case anyone is keeping track, I now own 4 kilns. I have promised my husband I will reduce it to 2! :) Anyone want a cheap kiln to make their own tile? We are almost done with the kitchen. I have never been so relieved to start painting a kitchen in my life! Wow, we have worked on this a whole year. The worst part of the whole project is behind us - grinding down the concrete so we can put down the bamboo flooring. Here is a tip. If you take tile off of concrete, which is messy enough, you will also need to use a grinder to make the floor completely flat again. In hindsight we should have done it when we pulled up the tile. Anyway, I found that wrapping my cabinets in that plastic they use to wrap pallets with (comes in a roll) keeps the dust from sucking in through the cracks and getting all over the dishes and silverware.

You have a knife that you love. Give it a wooden cutting board big enough to be easy to work on, a steel or sharpener to keep its edge, and a nice block or magnetic strip to store it in/on. Then keep cooking and check your spreadsheet as you feel the need of something here or there. You have a minimalist heart, so I would avoid something big, expensive, and only intermittently useful like a food processor. I've cooked for forty years without one, happily. Likewise, a Vitamix is overkill unless you often make drinks or smoothies that require finely crushing ice cubes. But you'll take my immersion blender from my cold, dead fingers! If it has a whisk and chopping attachment, it can: whip egg whites, make whipped cream, make hummus, nut butters, pesto, chopped liver, and puree soups. SO much easier to get out, use, clean, and store than a stand blender! Things I use a lot from W-S that have lasted well and been well worth the $: the set of three mesh footed colanders with handles, waffle-weave white towels for drying (15 years and still going!), an OXO digital scale (not discounted anywhere, so might as well get it from W-S), and a 3-qt All-Clad saucepan with the handled steamer insert (which turns out to be perfect for making couscous the traditional way as well as steaming veg). A big silicon spoonula is about my favorite utensil -- much more heat resistant than rubber spatulas, cuts way down on cleaning needed for bowls and pots, cuts way down on waste when transferring from one vessel to another. Big-ticket items that are super versatile: Dutch oven, wide shallow two-handled braiser (which can be used, lidless, to roast and bake, in addition to one-pot prep of things like short ribs and braised chicken w/veg). This is a nice braiser: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/all-clad-tri-ply-stainless-steel-braiser-with-rack/ that will be easier to handle than an enameled cast iron one, but those have the advantage of being attractive enough to use for serving. I used boxes much like those at harbor freight for my jewelry business. It held everything from findings to gems to rocks etc. Very nice boxes. I didn't buy mine there but I don't remember where I did buy them. Possibly Walmart. Hobby lobby has a nice selection of container boxes with dividers. The ones with movable dividers allow you to have various sizes in one box. I can't even guess at the amount of money and products I lost including my tools. Grrrr Plus I had a very large collection of ancient native American arrow heads and tools etc that were all found on our family land. Man I hate losing that amazing stuff.
