bathroom vanity/mirror size

I'll have a 37" vanity in the 1st floor bathroom. I don't have a *clue* what size mirror I should use. Would a 30"/32" be okay? What would be too small OR too big? I'm not concerned about the height, just the width. TIA ;o)

Our vanity mirror is about an inch shorter than the vanity. I think it was done that way because there is a corner there.

Otherwise, I think they would have made the mirror the same size as the vanity.

I was reading somewhere that we need to hang our mirrors an inch or so above the backsplash. The piece I was reading suggested that it is moisture from cleaning products or water that seeps into a mirror hung too close to the backsplash that results in the mirror's silver backing bubbling.

You know how the backing on some mirrors seems to be disintegrating a little near the bottom?

According to the piece I read, that is why.

We have a 36" vanity purchased for our new house and it came with a 30x32 mirror

I remember in my first house, I made a recessed closed niche all along the vanity between the faucet and the mirror. I found it really useful, I just wish I could find a better option than sliding doors to access the inside. I don't know, if 30 years later there would be a better option ... maybe you can make that recessed space higher than the faucet and have a pressure button latch that is hidden at the back of the door (sorry, I am missing some english vocabulary, hopefully you understand what I mean).

30 or 32 would be fine.
