Had to share my find for fine hair!!
Comments (8)It's funny that you posted this, as I've been wondering if a curling iron might help with my fine, but also thinning hair. I'm letting it grow out a bit so it's in that awkward stage, but I just had some layers put in. I don't know if I can strategically place the crimps so that they're not visible, but for $20, it's probably worth some experimentation. I've found a few styling products that help (Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray and Phyto Phytovolume Actif), but most anything I add to my hair really weighs it down. And I just hate product in my hair anyway....See Moreanesthesia and hair thinning
Comments (11)mona - your plan sounds great! I really admire women who are willing to try different styles as opposed to holding onto the too long hair after the age when a shorter style would afford a more up-to-date look. Not trying to get slammed here about the long hair/age topic. I have at least 2 close friends that immediately come to mind who've not yet been able to let go of the long (mid-back length) hair. They are 60+. They are beautiful women, but seem to be holding onto the long hair for some reason? Unless you are Carmen del Orifice, I think it is hard to pull of long hair after 60 and have it look great. I know alot of men who prefer women with long hair. Just a pet peeve as I am one of those old fashioned women who believe that very long hair on a woman isn't flattering after a certain age. Sadly, more times than not, hair that is too long takes away from very pretty faces. The hair becomes the thing that catches your eye, rather than the woman's facial/overall beauty. I think hair that is too long, or not styled tends to make you look older after a "certain" age. JMHO Short hair can be a PIA, or totally embraced, depending on your attitude. Accessorizing is an easy and fun remedy for those with short hair who may be feeling a bit "manly". When my hair is short, it means making sure I wear a pair of nice "drop style" earrings, and usually involves a couple of velcro rollers strategically placed to get some fullness if I am going to an event:0) A bit of cosmetics help too. Never go anywhere without a bit of mascara and lip color regardless of the length of my hair. At the moment, I am growing out a very short hairstyle from this past summer. Trying to grow the layers out to enjoy a bit longer fall/winter version - bob that stops under my jaw line. But, I know myself, I will return to the shorter cut when the dog days of summer set in once again next year! For me, it is about what is practical, easy to blow dry, as well as what is most flattering on me. Can't wait to see a pic of your new do. You are a very beautiful woman with a great sense of style, so I am very sure that you've gotten a very chic look with your new cut and color....See MoreThinning hair
Comments (14)Chisue, That might have been me who mentioned the fever since I suffered from hair loss after a fever a couple of years ago. I was sick again last week with about the same thing I had back in 2007 and as I was lying there sick as a dog, I kept thinking my damn hair better not fall out again! At least that is a temporary condition but gosh I was about to get a wig when it finally stopped falling out. I took a supplement that I believe helped my hair grow in a bit quicker - Ultra Nourish for Hair from GNC. It made my chin hairs grow faster too but I guess it was a trade-off. I also used a shampoo for hair loss that I picked up in the salon at Wal-Mart. I'm not sure if that helped. DH's grandmother got a hairpiece made and it looked great. I think if you are a suffering from a non-temporary loss of hair, that is the probably the best place to concentrate your efforts (on a nice wig or hairpiece)....See Morethinning hair...
Comments (29)I'm in my 70s with normal loss of hair volume. Last year I decided not to go through the whole routine of wash, blow dry, curl, some color etc. Go natural now without any of this and only wash my hair twice a week, a recommendation to retain natural oils . I do have natural waves and fine hair at just above my shoulders. Sometimes use a gel for fulness, always use hair spray, but not at the level once was. Of course my hair style will always be the same now. Looking back at 55+ yrs of every day and all the chemicals, it is a wonder there is any hair left. At my age there isn't a feeling of need to go through that again. Plus I see little difference in what was, than what style is now. Always disliked my curly hair and did everything possible to straighten it. If I ever needed a wig, I would do it. A fun adventure for something different. The market gets better every day and who knows what is on the horizon for hair styling, plus options for new growth....See Moresylviatexas1
