Had to share my find for fine hair!!

Just wanted to share something I found for my fine hair. This has worked so well for my hair. There are just a few tutortials on youtube demonstrating it, some better than others. It is a crimping iron you use only at the roots of your hair, making your hair seem more full. I found mine on Amazon for 19.99.

It's funny that you posted this, as I've been wondering if a curling iron might help with my fine, but also thinning hair. I'm letting it grow out a bit so it's in that awkward stage, but I just had some layers put in. I don't know if I can strategically place the crimps so that they're not visible, but for $20, it's probably worth some experimentation.

I've found a few styling products that help (Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray and Phyto Phytovolume Actif), but most anything I add to my hair really weighs it down. And I just hate product in my hair anyway.

I had a few White's tree frogs as pets several years ago, when they sat all scrunched up like the frogs in the photos, they were as big as the palm of my hand, and I fed them grasshoppers, large crickets and the occasional newborn mouse. I tried to take a pic, but darn it, getting the camera to focus on a fine, clear thread is impossible. PG, the "webs" are EXACTLY as you describe. Now I'm nearly positive it's not bug related, because when I blow on the "threads" they shatter and fly away. Spider mite webs won't do that----they stick like glue. It's weird though, cuz some of the string things can be up to 3/4 of an inch long, and it's enough to give a paranoid plant girl a heart attack!

Learn to wash your hair correctly. I take out half of new shampoo and put it in another bottle. The fill them both up with water. The NEXT day wash your hair only with a bit of conditioner. Because your hair isn't dirty. Then the next day again the diluted shampoo. Like WEN shampoo that is on television all the time, he will tell you it doesn't suds up ;) Then once a week put cheap Mayo on your hair. If hair is very dry or over colored use olive oil at the end of each day for 3 days. Always put on a plastic bag to bundle it up it up then aluminum foil tightly over that to heat your hair. It doesn't matter which - olive oil (for real dry hair), coconut oil or mayo you use you should keep it on for 2 hours or over night. Whatever time you have. When you wash it out follow this rule. Put the undiluted shampoo or diluted on your hair and let it cut the grease. If you put water on first you will never get it out. Then add water. Do you feel it is still there? Then add shampoo only on the areas that you feel it. Yes , you will have clean shiny hair that has recovered. And, there is no reason to buy shampoo and hair products at the salon. I use Pantene products as my preference for years but that's just me.

The one I keep going back to is one they only sell at Walmart in a white can that says PROFESSIONAL across the side and they sell two different ones but the one I like is the one that says it's like Vavoom. I have not tried the other one. I think this one is very popular because they are sold out many times. I have extremely fine limp medium length hair and it holds really well without spraying out of the can so hard it blows my style away which many canned hair sprays will do. Everything else I've liked has been discontinued...if I had to buy something else I would buy Big Sexy Hair spray and play harder I believe is the one. The actual Matrix Vavoom is not any good, but it's generic version from Wally's is awesome!

All these products are hit or miss. It is great when you find one that works for you.

I guess I should have said that it works for me. I have blonde, very straight, fine hair. Not thick, but not real thin either. You put the crimps on the bottom layers of your hair and the top layers of hair cover it, leaving it look more full. Anyway, it does mine, and I'm so excited I finally found something!

Thanks for sharing, Olliesmom! I also have fine, straight hair. My hair never holds a curl but I am going to order this and try it out. I would love to have some volume in my hair :)

I have very thin, fine hair. If I don't wash it every morning, it looks awful. The only advantage to hair of this type is that it dries quickly. I wash it, let it air dry for a few minutes but not completely, and put some of these curlers in. When my hair is dry, I remove them and have some height and some shape to my hair.

I met a woman online who swears by Viviscal, a supplement for thinning hair. Apparently they talked about it on Dr. Oz and The View. It's not cheap though. You can find it a little cheaper than Amazon's price, but it will still run about $90 for a 3 months supply. I think you start off at 2 pills a day and then eventually cut down on it.
