Lovely bathroom, Annkathryn. I wanted my GC to give me a rough idea of extra costs before I bought the generator, but I may push back on a couple of items when it is time to actually build it. Our entire bathroom is long and narrow. It is 13.5' long, and 6' wide, except for the last 42" where it is 5' wide in the shower area. You enter from the bedroom at one short end, the first 6' is a double vanity, then there is a wall with a pocket door, then the toilet (going to be wall hung with tank in wall to save space), then the shower. So the toilet and shower are in the same space that can be closed off from the rest of the bathroom. I planned to put a Panasonic Whisper Warm fan just outside the shower in the toilet area. I hope that will be sufficient to clear any steam, as I do not really want a vent fan in the shower itself. We also have a small window in the shower that we leave open about 10 months of the year to get fresh air in the bathroom, so I can just open it back up after a steam. Except in December and January, we usually shower with the window open, so I am not sure we need a tilting glass vent to avoid showering in an air tight space. I'll have to find out how much extra that vent will cost.

You can buy a rectangle tub and make it in to a shower bath combo. We bought our tub which was an overstock model and cheap and it works great as a tub shower. The rectangle tubs work best I think for a shower. Oval tubs you have to have the curtain that goes around the tub and that's a mess. The rectangle tubs you can add a regular shower door to them. The smallest tubs I have seen are 60". If that's bigger then you can use you might have to buy a mobile home tub, but be careful of the quality. Creative Tile, I also have heard good things.....my plan has totally changed, you can search my name and find my design thread. I'm now doing a 48" neo angle. I want to go USG because they make the custom pan with the drain where I want it, and trimming these pans will obviously create some strange aesthetics at change of plane w/ wall. Problem is, no one wants to sell me one! Here in NJ, only distributor within 90 minutes are HD stores. I call them, and they don't know the custom pan exists. Local tile guy has Wedi, but very pricey, and it doesn't seem ideal for a neoangle curb, also no custom pan. I'm assuming you may have a connection with someone who will sell me one? Online USG email support for neo angle sent me back to uninformed home depot, and a general instruction which doesn't address how to wrap the 135 deg. angle. I'm going to call them one last time, if not I'll take my chances with kerdi membrane with a mud deck. 1 question on the USG product...if i go with the new ultralight foam, does it require full membrane, or just the seams? If it requires full membrane, should I just use fiberrock as it will probably be much cheaper? Any ideas how to do the 135 neoangle curb, I'm probably just going to borrow kerdi methods over at johnbridge, and use the sealant for any questionable corners . Thanks so much for your help!

It's seems super hard to get comparison info. Also debating between Thermasol and Mr Steam. We were leaning toward Thermasol, but just has a plumber over to give us a quote and he had never heard of Thermasol and has done lots of Mr Steams installs. There seems to be 3 key factors that I'm considering. The constant steam of Thermasol seams to be a big draw. Although the automatic auroma of the MS seems lots better then manually doing it. The Serenity Light, Sound, Rainhead looks amazing, but it cost $2k and then you also need a $1,500 digital shower valve. I'm a little worried about all the gee-wiz stuff on the Thermasol that may wear out sooner in the long game.
