Are two ear piercings in each ear lobe out of style?

I see lots of women wearing a stud earring in the top and a hoop/dangle earring in the bottom. What do you think -- is this look old?

Not at all! My wife has 3 lobe piercings in each ear plus right cartilage. I have single piercings in each lobe, and plan on doubles plus cartilage in both ears. Both of us are professionals, although I remove my earrings for client visits. My double earlobe and cartilage piercings will be for our private enjoyment only, while I will wear the single piercings often in public.

I still see many women with the multiple earrings. Personally i think it looks outdated. I took mine out several years ago and left 1 piercing in each ear.

I don't like multiple piercings; seems tacky, junky, cheap, and ugly. But then I'm not a fan of the nose stud either.
Or ankle bracelets...

well i guess im a little more willing to do this since i did my dd's when she was 12 weeks old. we have never had a problem with them, she cried more when she had her first needle than when her ears were peirced. as for them falling out the clasps are locking and in all honousty there are so many other things around the house that they can choke on it never crossed my mind. i think they look great on her, she is now 2.5yo and tells people that she has pretty ears. i have been criticized by many and tell them to Mind THERE OWN BUISNESS as my dd probably would want them done when she is a teen anways. also for us it was a cultural thing as im italian and in my family they are done as a babtism gift. so i really get irritated when people are nasty to me about it. anyways its a decision that you have to make if you are not confortable with it don't do it! tell your mil to mind her buisness its your child. if you do decide to have it done enjoy it becuase i think its a cute thing to have done and you shouldn't be made to feel lousy if you do. nadine

Yes, it Always involves the clitoris; in fact, that is the main purpose of female genital mutilation, aka fgm or circumcision. The clitoris is either completely removed or cut in half; the goal being to deny the woman sexual pleasure. This is the least extreme kind of fgm. In more severe varieties, the inner labia and sometimes the outer labia are also removed. What is left is then sewn together leaving a tiny opening for urination, and the bride is cut open on her wedding night. Supermodel Waris Dirie, from Somalia, has written about her childhood, her own circumcision, and her escape to England and her life afterwards in Desert Flower, which was made into a movie (I found it on Netflix). International activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, also from Somalia, has also written and lectured about this hideous practice. When I was in graduate school an Egyptian feminist came to my university for some lectures, in the early 80s. She also came to our class in Middle Eastern anthropology to speak specifically about fgm. She showed a short documentary, the filming of an actual fgm ceremony in Egypt, outdoors under a tree, outside a peasant village, done by women who were the professional practitioners of this atrocity, on a 12 year-old girl. Just about the most terrible thing I have ever seen. FGM is practiced almost universally in Egypt (including in doctors' offices in Cairo) and wide parts of Africa, and also in small enclaves here and there in the Middle East. A million years ago, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was in college, I worked at a small jewellery store in a mall. I pierced probably well over several hundred ears in my year or so at that store. I even did my own with that gun! Most kids did fine, by the way. A lot of it seemed to depend on whether they really wanted it done, or their mother was the one who really wanted it done. I only ever saw/heard of 1 person who ended up with an infection, and it was someone who admitted they didn't clean the piercing with the cleansing solution the store provided. I'm not saying there weren't more people with problems (hey, we were a jewellery store not a doctor's office, ha ha!) - but it seemed to be a pretty safe endeavor. No part of the gun ever touches anyone's ear. The earrings used for piercing were special and one's hands never touched the earrings either. They came sterilized and individually-packaged, and you loaded them into the gun without ever touching them. We were told if you accidentally touched one or dropped it, throw it away and use another. I can see why a needle would be easier on the ears too, but at least with the gun it's over in a split second.

Stainless steel can contain nickel. And, just read: There are some grades of surgical stainless steel that contain nickel and thus if you’re super sensitive to nickel you’d have to settle for earrings made from a different metal or metal alloy And: 316L grade stainless is Surgical Steel. It’s a low nickel steel used in surgical instruments, and other medical equipment. It’s considered hypoallergenic, and won’t get gross tarnish or rust. 304 grade stainless is even better. It’s lower nickel than 316L, which makes it an even better choice if you have a nickel sensitivity. It also wont get nasty tarnish or rust. After not having worn earrings in years, my piercings have closed up. The last few months, I've been wanting to wear earrings again so I'm happy Hu....486 started this thread. I've ordered an ear piercing kit & waiting for it to arrive. Initially, I DIY'ed my ears....but muffed up one ear--the piercing angled downwards which sometimes caused me problems getting the earring thru the hole. So I ordered the gun kit in hopes to avoid that problem this time!

I see everything - I think it's just anything goes according to your own style. I keep threatening to get a nose stud - maybe for my birthday. Either that or dye my hair some outrageous color. Must be female mid-life crisis - LOL!

I had double pierced ears in high school but I let the second hole close because my fiance did not like it. We have been married now for over twenty years. On my 35th birthday, four years ago, I got the second hole re-pierced. I wanted to be able to wear my diamond studs on a daily basis, but still have fun matching my earrings to my outfit. I usually only wear studs, if I wear dangling earrings I leave the second hole bare. I figure that now that I am all grown up I can do what I like! I think wearing two studs together looks really pretty. I actually also have a small 3 stone jeweled hoop the I wear with my diamonds, that looks pretty too. If you are younger you can probably do a more dramatic look with hoops or longer earrings. Have fun! If you don't like it, you can always let it close up. Just don't get you upper ear pierce, getting cartilage pierced can cause problems, not to mention that I have heard from friends that it hurts a lot more!

I have one hole in my left ear and three holes in my right ear. I wear very tiny studs in the 'extra' holes. Usually silver, but I also have a few others with colored stones. They are very tiny too.

It wasn't really a plan, I got hole #3 a few years after hole #2.

I bet you both look amazing.

I am a guy and l got both ears pierced when l was 15 and have worn earrings ever since. (1 in each earlobe). I am single at the present but love to see women with multiple pierced ears. I kind of think with a female partner they ought to have more earrings than me. Just my opinion btw.
