Are two ear piercings in each ear lobe out of style?

I see lots of women wearing a stud earring in the top and a hoop/dangle earring in the bottom. What do you think -- is this look old?

Not at all! My wife has 3 lobe piercings in each ear plus right cartilage. I have single piercings in each lobe, and plan on doubles plus cartilage in both ears. Both of us are professionals, although I remove my earrings for client visits. My double earlobe and cartilage piercings will be for our private enjoyment only, while I will wear the single piercings often in public.

I still see many women with the multiple earrings. Personally i think it looks outdated. I took mine out several years ago and left 1 piercing in each ear.

I don't like multiple piercings; seems tacky, junky, cheap, and ugly. But then I'm not a fan of the nose stud either.
Or ankle bracelets...

Ah, I get it now that you're to put the earring through the support. That sounds challenging when in a hurry. :) I'll have to see if I can get a small pack to try. Don't want to buy bulk if they're not going to be for me. Natal - I had to google an image of Barbara. I never really looked close at her but she's pretty. I see what you mean about the ears. Lynn - I didn't think I was allergic to anything but I developed a rash after a few times of having my knee taped at physical therapy. I wonder if this stuff is similar. I have a few of those flat backs but my second holes are close and I find they get in the way. I didn't know they made a difference in the weight. Thanks, I'll check it out. Hhireno - LOL I know! Earlier today when I read about chest wrinkles my reactions was,"Oh crap, I need to stop sleeping on my side!" Tina - Really, you never noticed the nose and ears in older people? I never gave it any thought until I heard about it years ago. Now it's just one of those things I notice.

well i guess im a little more willing to do this since i did my dd's when she was 12 weeks old. we have never had a problem with them, she cried more when she had her first needle than when her ears were peirced. as for them falling out the clasps are locking and in all honousty there are so many other things around the house that they can choke on it never crossed my mind. i think they look great on her, she is now 2.5yo and tells people that she has pretty ears. i have been criticized by many and tell them to Mind THERE OWN BUISNESS as my dd probably would want them done when she is a teen anways. also for us it was a cultural thing as im italian and in my family they are done as a babtism gift. so i really get irritated when people are nasty to me about it. anyways its a decision that you have to make if you are not confortable with it don't do it! tell your mil to mind her buisness its your child. if you do decide to have it done enjoy it becuase i think its a cute thing to have done and you shouldn't be made to feel lousy if you do. nadine

No to pierced ears here. But this week, I wish I had. I am trying to find a pair of dangling earrings for my son's wedding next weekend. Clip earrings are very difficult to find to start with but when you have an idea of what you want that makes it impossible! To give you an idea: I am a plus size woman so that cannot be too dainty, but then again I am not a "bold" person either. I do not want hoops. I want them to dangle about 2 inches (cant' be much longer because the neckline on the jacket of the dress has a lot of beading and I don't want tangles. They have to be silvertone and could have clear crystals mixed in. I don't want to look like I am putting on the ritz because to me that would look fake because there is no way we could afford anything like that. I just want them to be dressy but not over the top. So, not that I wanted much, huh? :) When I read this back, it is funny - no wonder I cannot find what I want from the 5-10 pairs that a store might have if they carry clips at all. Maybe I won't even wear any. The beading on my jacket and a necklace may be it. I am wearing a very special piece of black hills silver for my necklace. It is an angel that I wear each and everyday in memory of our daughter. She will be sooooo missed at the wedding. It will be 6 years this July. On some days it still seems like yesterday - she would be 27. However, she will be in our hearts. She would be so happy for her brother and will be watching from heaven I am sure. (Better quit here before the tears come.) Have a happy day!

Thanks all. From what I have now read, most suggest that a needle, and not a gun, should be used. And that indeed the most skilled and hygienic practitioners are those shops that do body piercing (and often tattoos). None other than the ordinary folks at Good Housekeeping give this advice. As for the wisdom of using a certain type of earring (re thickness, sleeping, etc) I will ask again but I was assured that the ones I liked should be fine. And several people above, whether using potatoes or apples or just bringing their own earrings, seem to have used something other than "thick" piercing earrings. I am just going to give her a gift card for the piercing and she can decide from there. The earrings i like are sold singly and are a few hundred dollars each; they are not just for a single use. But I want her to like them so I will let her pick them out. They are for her birthday next month.

I see everything - I think it's just anything goes according to your own style. I keep threatening to get a nose stud - maybe for my birthday. Either that or dye my hair some outrageous color. Must be female mid-life crisis - LOL!

I had double pierced ears in high school but I let the second hole close because my fiance did not like it. We have been married now for over twenty years. On my 35th birthday, four years ago, I got the second hole re-pierced. I wanted to be able to wear my diamond studs on a daily basis, but still have fun matching my earrings to my outfit. I usually only wear studs, if I wear dangling earrings I leave the second hole bare. I figure that now that I am all grown up I can do what I like! I think wearing two studs together looks really pretty. I actually also have a small 3 stone jeweled hoop the I wear with my diamonds, that looks pretty too. If you are younger you can probably do a more dramatic look with hoops or longer earrings. Have fun! If you don't like it, you can always let it close up. Just don't get you upper ear pierce, getting cartilage pierced can cause problems, not to mention that I have heard from friends that it hurts a lot more!

I have one hole in my left ear and three holes in my right ear. I wear very tiny studs in the 'extra' holes. Usually silver, but I also have a few others with colored stones. They are very tiny too.

It wasn't really a plan, I got hole #3 a few years after hole #2.

I bet you both look amazing.

I am a guy and l got both ears pierced when l was 15 and have worn earrings ever since. (1 in each earlobe). I am single at the present but love to see women with multiple pierced ears. I kind of think with a female partner they ought to have more earrings than me. Just my opinion btw.
