kitchen aid oven won't heat
Comments (4)KA wall ovens failing after self-clean were the topic of previous discussions. The unit of question here is a set-in model ... but a blown thermal fuse may still apply. Per the parts diagram, the thermal cut-out (#17 on the diagram, part number 341196) is at the right front under the control panel, not at rear of the oven cavity. There is also a high-limit thermostat at the left side (#20 on the diagram, part number 9579944). Thermostats by definition auto-reset upon cooling. Thermal fuses blow and must be replaced. As with any part failure, confirm the item(s) of question are bad by testing with a multimeter or other method before ordering replacements....See MoreKitchen Aid steam dual fan convection oven vs. Wolf steam
Comments (0)Hi to everyone, been reading the many great forums. I fell in love with the Wolf steam oven...looking for less expensive options. Kitchen Aid makes a single or double wall oven with piped in steam and dual fan for great convection/air circulation. But there are some really bad reviews on other sites for it (self-cleaning is actually self-destruct, class-action, product recall). Does anyone have one? Recently bought one? Any other options? Thanks....See MoreElectrolux double wall oven died after cleaning
Comments (87)I bought an Electrolux double oven Model#EI30EW45JS2 on 4/27/12. I LOVE this oven and have been very happy, but started to see some rust spots. DON'T ignore these if you get them. I now have a hole which I saw when I started to remove the grates for self-clean. I was frightened and contact Electrolux who first asked, do you have an extended warranty?I don't anymore although purchased an extended warranty when I purchased it. They said they would check to see if they had parts to replace the liner (also rust starting on the upper oven) and after about a week, they called on Saturday to say they could not get the parts. Great. She also told me that they could do nothing until a service person saw it. I asked what would happen if I got a service person in and she said, well, it is no longer under warranty and you would be responsible. Well, thanks a lot since a) an extended warranty doesn't cover rust and b) there aren't parts to fix it anyway. She said they might give me 10% off an oven (probably with a gift card), so I have to spend more than $3000 on a new Electrolux which probably will do that same thing in 6 years and they are being generous giving me $300. DO NOT BUY THIS OVEN. It is so unbelievable discouraging to be treated like this. BTW, I had a Thermador range that is 23 years old and still works perfectly, although it no longer looks perfect. I will now be buying a KitchenAid double oven because Electrolux will not help at all. Beautiful oven, just don't expect it to last for more than a few years. Just think if I had actually used the self-cleaning cycle and my house burned down. SO dangerous....See MoreOven Self-clean: always, occasionally, or NEVER?
Comments (23)Electronics and heat don't play nicely together. If an oven vents directly below the control panel and someone has no problems then they are lucky. Because that's just bad oven design. Sorry but that's just not true. There are plenty of happy Electrolux owners on here who have self cleaned their ovens for years without issue. The fan does not blow heat onto the electronics. Instead, the fan is there to remove heat from the electronics. The electronics are mounted on top of the oven cavity under a protective panel.. Naturally, no matter what, that area on top of the oven would get hot when it is on if there were no ventilation. Some designs pull in ambient air under the control panel, over the electronics, down the back of the oven to be discharged at the bottom. Other designs pull ambient air in below the oven, up the back, across the electronics, then out below the controls. Both designs have been used for years and either works fine. All that matters is that you're moving enough fresh air across the electronics. Doesn't matter where that air is coming from or going. When the air comes out, the heat you feel is the heat that was removed from the electronics area. That's a good thing! I personally wouldn't buy from a dealer who told me what the dealer told kitchen girl because if the dealer had any integrity he wouldn't be selling an oven that he knows may not do something very basic without consequences Completely agree with this. I was glad to see the class action suit on the oven porcelain. Perhaps the self-clean will be next. About time. There was a class action about the KitchenAid problem because it was so widespread. Other than that, there aren't any current known widespread self clean issues in the industry with a particular design. Of course some people will still have problems with self clean from time to time, the main reason for which I described earlier in the thread, but not enough with a common cause/failure for a class action suit. Similarly, there is now the class action out on Wolf that you mentioned about the porcelain, but there never was any class action against Electrolux for the same issue because it never became widespread....See MoreJCWR56
