Just for fun tile challenge question!

For those of you who have a great design "eye" (which I do not!!) or have done a lot of tile work, Do you think you could vary the look of white subway tile in four bathrooms in one house?? There are two bathrooms on the third floor and two on the first floor, so there is distance between them!!

Absolutely!

Layout variations:
- Running bond (traditional subway)
- Herringbone (diagonal)
- Striaght herringbone
- Basketweave
- Straight horizontal
- Straight vertical
- Diagonal

Borders and trims:
- Soldier Course border to any of the above
- Chair rail
- Base molding
- Cap rail
- Cornice molding
- Accent stripe (different colors)
- Accent tiles (different colors, shapes, sizes)
- Framed sections
- Wainscoting

There's more -- but that was just off the top of my head.

Sweeby - thanks so much for the list of possibilites! All I was thinking was the different "accent colors"! I can't wait to search for images this weekend using some better keywords :)

My box from Jules arrived! Sorry for the delay in posting, we cleaned the garage this weekend! OMG can the junk accumulate! We also cleaned all the windows outside! I'm really tired! Well, he thinks his interview went well, but can't gauge if he "nailed it." AND, I found out when he got home, that he wore his Mickey Mouse tie to the interview. It was a nice one, but still. What in the h*** was he thinking? He should hear today or Monday if he will move on to interview #4 (with the CEO - yesterday's was with the person he'd report to). Keeping our fingers crossed! The title would technically be a step down, but it's a huge company, so in reality it's a step up. He's currently a COO at a small company, and this is a VP position at a large company. And - it's a move OUT of the credit union industry - something he's been looking for a chance to do. If he doesn't get it, well, then, we'll keep on trucking. We have to.

Popular likes that I dislike: Tea, coffee, beer, wine or most any other alcoholic beverage. A pina colada is fine every now and then. : ) Fox news and MSNBC news The small yippy-yappy dogs that people carry around in purses. I just want to do a Jay Leno and say "shuddup!" Golf. Challenged to try and tie in the roof with the bronze windows. Soffit will also be painted. The brown on the trim is MS Seal but not sure if I should be matching the window or the roof?Eagerly awaiting suggestions. Thank you!

This is a no brainer You could vary patterns, combine patterns, add different color accents, there's a MILLION things you could do, using the same field tiles in each bathroom.

I know these are two different colors, but you do the same thing as I did in johnmari's bathroom using white suibway tiles, and it still wouldn't look anything like the ones I did below in white:

Thinset the glazed side to the wall and you'll have a most unique installation.

Don't worry Caltrimom, the guys are just teasing each other. It is like when my DH worked landscaping, their favorite thing was to drive by someone laying sod, roll down the window and yell "Green side UP!"

They seemed to never get tired of that one.
