Hello palomalou, We thought we might be able to offer some assistance. Thank you for your interest in Wolf Appliances! Wolf manufactures two types of ranges, the Dual Fuel and the all Gas Range. We'd be happy to explain some of the differences. Dual Fuel Ranges have an electric oven with 10 modes of cooking and gas dual stacked surface burners, while all Gas Ranges are just that; gas ovens and gas surface burners. Some additional features are noted below: Dual Fuel Ranges (Electric Oven - Gas Top): - Dual stacked burners offer 15,000 BTU and one smaller 9,200 BTU burner that offers a melt feature, 325 BTU, for things such as chocolate. - Sealed burner design. This helps keeps spills and grease on the surface of the black steel tops which are in a fixed position. The burner rings can be removed for cleaning, while the pans underneath them would be cleaned at the stove. - Porcelain-coated cast iron continuous top grates allow pots and pans to easily slide front to back or side to side. - Self clean option to help with oven cleaning. - Ten cooking modes, including several that are convection, to meet all of your baking and cooking needs. Pro Gas Ranges (Gas Oven - Gas Top): - Dual brass burners, 16,000 BTU, with automatic re-ignition at all settings. - Open burner design with removable black steel tops that can be removed for cleaning at the sink. - Distinctive spider shaped grates. - Infrared broiler element for better searing of meat. The Dual Fuel surface burners tend to give slightly more control in the simmer range. If you bake large batches of cookies and cakes then we suggest you focus on the Dual Fuel range with an electric oven. It will give great results and allows for multiple rack cooking and baking with convection. A favorite feature of our Gas Ranges with it's beautiful heavy duty stainless exterior is the Infrared oven broiler where you'll prepare perfect steaks that are seared on the exterior with the juices sealed in. We do not recommend a recirculating kit be used on models with charbroilers or griddles. Our minimum CFM blower recommendation for ranges are listed below: 30" Range: 500 CFM 36" Range: 900 CFM 48" Range: 1100 CFM 60" Range: 1500 CFM The hood should be at least as wide as the range. You can drive to work in a Toyota Yaris or a Porsche 911. Both will get you where you're going via an internal combustion engine, maybe even with an MP3 player, and possibly even on board navigation. But the difference in driving the two can NOT be understood by someone who doesn't enjoy the nuances of driving. Regular folks who think buying a Porsche is a silly extravagance will never ever "get" it. They don't know what they don't know about the differences between the two, so they are perfectly satisfied with a boring econobox. Frigidaire is the boring tinny 1970's econobox of the appliance world with a few racing stripes to give itself airs. And the people reviewing it, well, not to sound elitist here, but they don't have experience with a higher standard to compare it to. They don't know what they don't know about the nuances of cooking. Anyone can "steam fry" a meal. Very few can do an actual stir fry. If you don't have the budget to make a purchase of a pro style range at this point, that's fine. Very few of us are able to get what we 100% want as if money is no object. But, you really have to look at the ultimate goal here and keep your eyes on the prize. Spending $1700 on something that doesn't function any better than something that costs $500 is wasting that money that you do spend. I'd suggest really analyzing your goals here. A 36" IS a step up in "space" but a true 36" pro style range has a pretty large oven that takes a long time to come to temp and is overkill for most situations unless you need to fit in a full sheet pan. 6 burners are usually overkill for most for 90% of the time that they use the range. Thus the popularityh of the 48" range, as it has a smaller oven that gets used more often. And you can do a griddle surface on it as well. If pro style cooking is your ultimate goal, then think about doing a 48" rather than a 36". Or consider doing a pro style cooktop like one Bluestar has now, and buying a second hand wall oven from Habitat for Humanity or Craig's List. That will give you an immediate return for your investment that won't need to be repeated. As long as you are also budgeting for the high CFM hood that goes hand in hand with having a high BTU cooking machine in your home. If you size the oven cabinet for a 30" oven and buy an extra filler or two, you can replace the oven at any point down the road with a more capable model but you will have enjoyed the FIRE of the cook surface until that happens.

Sayde, Thanks for your comments - could you elaborate on a couple of your thoughts please? Best Gas Oven - we're looking at AG ranges (not DF). Manual clean, rotisserie not of importance - how would you rate Wolf, BS, Capitol Culinarian (if you have info on it). Brands....more problems - Interested in your Wolf AG listing - do I take that to mean that the All Gas versions from Wolf tend to be more problematic (if we go with Wolf that's what we'll be getting). As you might guess we are looking at Wolf, BS and Capitol-Culinarian 36" gas ranges and having a difficult time finding key reasons to select one over the other. If you have any further comments on the quality of the griddles and broilers those are items of importance. Thanks! Bruce

I just got to catch up to this thread again! I've been blowing and going the past two days between all of this build stuff I have to get done before I leave town for a work trip followed by vacation two days after. So the two weeks of build stuff I'd have to do during that time had to be done this week on top of the regular stuff. Not to mention that I work also AND have two school-aged kids. It's been a mad mad week. So now I have conflicting opinions! I expected nothing less! LOL! Nini, we are doing a CD french door with an under counter beverage fridge in the island. We also have a chest freezer and an overflow fridge in the garage. :) Our kitchen layout is very similar to yours except without that cased opening you have in your "L". Our configuration will have cabinet, sink, cabinet with the super susan on the turn then cabinet after the turn, our range/hood, cabinet then our fridge on that end. Our microwave drawer will be facing the range and we're putting the beverage fridge facing the sink wall but on the set of cabinetry on the stool side. That way people coming from the living area can grab a drink from that side instead of walking to the big fridge. It works nicely. Brianadarnell's kitchen is laid out almost identical to what ours will be if you turned her island lengthwise the way yours is and changed some island configuration. The Dishwasher - I wonder if it's the room or the spacing? Thermadors are supposedly rebadged Bosches. I looked in my friend's and the configuration looked awfully similar to the Bosch I looked in the showroom. Now that have this cook blue light that comes on and off when you open the door so you can see inside. She likes hers but says sometimes she has trouble fitting things - which sounds like several Bosch owners here. Anyway, I don't plan to use the self-clean feature in the oven. I find it takes forever and stinks up the entire house. I find I can clean it quicker myself. I've never had a problem doing that. So that's a non-issue re: dual fuel. I wish someone could make this decision for me! LOL! Why can't things ever be easy??
