fun drink recipe for card night?

Does anyone have a fun drink idea (besides beer and wine) for a coed card playing night? I thought maybe martinis, but too labor intensive (shaking that shaker all night!) and I stink at making them and don't have enough glasses. There will be 20 of us and the food (appetizers) will be Italian inspired. any ideas? thanks!

What about cocktails that you can prepare in large batches and serve from pitchers? Like sangria or a fun punch? (Punch always conjures mental images for me of old women at bridal showers, but it is certainly a practical beverage. Maybe if you skip the flowery bowl and ladle set-up?)

You could mix bastches of margaritas or something in the blender between hands.

sorry - none of this is very Italian.

If you want to realy go fun, I've been experimenting with homemade chocolate vodka recently. (Would probably need a cocktail shaker though - details below)

Love the shape of the pitcher - does it have a stopper? I would put honey in it instead of syrup, however, but whatever you use most would be appropriate. It looks small enough to use as a cream pitcher also. Anyway, I love special serving items like that. I've never seen stemless wine glasses. Like David, I need to replace a few myself! I watch Mark Bittman fairly often, and while I don't like his personality, his recipes do sound good - generally fairly quick and fairly easy while also including interesting combinations of ingredients. I think I would like his cookbook much more than his show!! He spends a lot of time in Spain, and I love Spanish food. Lars

Brad, Thanks for the lemonade recipe and tips. DGS and I have found 3 meyer lemon trees in the woods where we hike. He always wants to make lemonade when we get home so I need a Grammy worthy recipe. At Peppi's urging, I documented my grandmother's recipe for spaghetti sauce that she brought from Italy and I have been eating since---maybe birth. I'm sure it's not to everyone's liking but in my family it is THE SAUCE. Anyway on subject--in an effort to save this family treasure on something other than a recipe card and in an effort to decorate with purpose (learned that from RiverRat), I am handwriting it and having it aged, enlarged, matted, and framed or put on canvas.

This is so awesome!!! You are so generous to post and share! I am trying to figure out if these are the same recipes from a magazine that my late mother bought me a subscription for when I got my firsta partment in 2001. The only recipe I have handy s is the Secret Chocoalte Chip Cookies (still a hit). I'm tyring to find the lasagna recipe...it was like "Grandma's Best Lasagna" or something...had cottage, ricotta, parmasean, and moz cheeses. I had so much fun with these magazines, and exploring the recipes each month was such a great way to learn how to cook!! Thanks again!
