Iced cappucino at home??

I have these General Foods International coffes packets to make cappucino in a glass of milk. You can add ice. I had an iced cappucino from Tim Horton's and paid $2.59 or something like that. I was thinking about putting a packet in the blender with crushed ice to see what kind of drink I would get. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks, Amy

I add my left over dark roast coffee to the blender with a litle cocoa and whipping cream and some ice. It makes a wonderful iced coffee. Leave out the ice if you just want a coffee drink and add it if yu want when it is in the glass. The drink keeps well in the blender in the fridge and I just give it a whirl when I want a glass.

The OP may not be looking a week later, and this may be out of the range of possibilities, but I wanted to pass along just in case or in case anyone else is looking for a way to stop waiting lines for their favorite coffee drinks. This is a pretty good price on a machine that grinds and brews as well as steams the milk or a variety of drinks. We have a different Jura, but I was looking at the instruction manual (link is online) and this little package does all most folks would need. They are dependable and easy to maintain too. Like I said above, these refurbished units come with a warranty and are a great way to buy a fancier machine. We have bought refurbished -- they keep going for years and they can be serviced if you ever run into a problem (the techs will walk you through anything you can check yourself before having you send it in). The purchase is a big gulp -- I get that, but if you stop for coffee frequently, it doesn't take long to realize a payoff. This one is being offered directly by Jura, but 1st in Coffee also offeres the refurbished units (I buy water filters from them and ordered some new milk tubes from Jura -- seem to have gotten on both mailing lists).

I have Podocarpus macrophyllis Maki next to my house. It's probably twenty years old. Every few years I cut a bit off the top. I don't want it to be as high as the roof. Even if I let it go it would never get giant. Because it is in the shade I don't have to water it in the summer. This year I remembered to water it and it got wider. I also have the more Ferny Yew Pine which has grown into a big tree, but I allowed that to happen. If you are willing to shear them they can be kept as shrubs. I have not seen this blue one your neighbor has so I looked it. up. It is not columnar but it is described as a slow grower. That make me think you could keep it any shape you like.

If it's in a small enclosed room with a door, don't matter if it's being called a closet or not. It's still a small enclosed room- if the door isn't louvered to allow ventilation, you need vent holes in the walls to allow ventilation. Or ductwork in the small enclosed room circulating air. Your appliances need ventilation.

I tried some Int'l Coffee mix, mixed as directed, and then put into the blender w/ice. Awful. It had no substance, and was very, very weak. IF I should do that again, I would definitely add more milk and much more of the powdered mix. (That could get awfully expensive, though.)

Here's a tip for iced coffee or iced cappuccino...
Use up left-over coffee (make sure its at room temperature or cooler) & make coffee ice cubes which keeps those iced drinks from tasting like water.

One of the best, I think, is use dark brewed coffee and sweetened condensed milk with crushed ice.

Here's a good one - I've been saving the coffee that's left in the coffeemaker in the morning in a pitcher in the fridge to make these in the afternoon :-) They would be even better with ice cubes made from leftover coffee...

Starbuck's Frozen Frappuccino

Recipe By :

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 1/2 cups cold coffee
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon chocolate syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups crushed ice or ice cubes

1. Combine the coffee, milk, sugar, chocolate syrup and salt in a blender and mix on medium speed for 15 seconds to dissolve sugar.
2. Add the vanilla extract and ice then blend on high speed until smooth and creamy. Stir with a spoon if necessary to help blend.
3. Pour drink into two 16-ounce glasses.
Makes 2 large drinks.

Caramel
For this version, add 2 tablespoons of caramel syrup to the recipe above and prepare as described. Top each glass with whipped cream and drizzled caramel.
