The googone won't hurt a thing....but if it were mine I would leave the residue of the tape my grandma put on it.
It's not typical of English China of the period...somewhere likely shortly after 1914.
What is that dark circle on the bottom? Is it glazes that color? Or is it metal? Is the design on it raised? Like bumpy?
Frankly I have never seen anything just like it.

I use butane (for cigarette lighters). I was in a gift shop once and the clerk was packaging up some Belleek and wiping the store's sticker adhesive off with butane. She saw me do a double-take and laughed, told me they use it on all the fine china and porcelain. So I tried it on an antique piece of porcelain I had that someone had put scotch tape on years ago. It came right off, no harm to the piece. Then immediately wash/rinse with a mild detergent and water.

Moonshadow, I actually have heard of using lighter fluid, but hadn't thought of that. I'm thinking I may be best off leaving it alone.

Nancy, thanks for the date guess, it's the most info I have so far. The dark circle looks like dirt under the glaze. It doesn't look like any purposeful marking, at least. The plate is white in the center & the entire outside flat ring of the front is bluish. The flowers are painted on, but all the rest, including the small daisy-like flowers, are heavily gilded. All of the gilding is distinctly raised.

I would like to take it & have it professionally ID'd, but live (way out) in the country. That'll have to wait awhile. Meanwhile, I'm doing my best by searching on the net & asking questions.

Is it porcelain? When you hold it up to the light can you see the shadow of your hand behind it?
To be honest....the people you see on this forum are about as professional as you will get. The difference is scope of experience. If you have never seen something just like that....you will have no way of knowing what it might be.
I really can't believe the dark ring is dirt under the glaze.....there would be no way for it to get there.
Is the outside edge of the plate dark like the foot/rim on the bottom?

Yes, it is porcelain, I can definitely see the shadow of my hand behind it. The outside edge is gilded like the foot, gold. I'll try to get a closeup pic of the dark spot for you. It seems to be embedded. There are a couple of similar, smaller dots near the blue Mark. They all seem to be under the glaze, smooth, won't rub off.

There is something in my head saying that this is not made in England at all, but made in China and the pattern is called English.....
