Does anyone know who did this painting ?

Hello , I have this painting for about 15 years got it at an estate sale back then. It is signed but cant figure it out also has a number underneath signature. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.. ;)

Is it an actual oil or acrylic? Or a print/litho/gyclee? I'm asking ebecause the number usually indicates a run of copies authorised by the painter or whomever owns the copyright. That would make it a limited edition. Can you get a close-up of the signature? It may also be an original and that is the date. It appaers to be the Grand Canal in Venice, the buildings are familiar. Of course that is a popular tourist site and this painting my be a modestly priced souvenir original by an artist who makes his wages doing them for tourists. It's rather common in Europe.

I agree totally with calliope. Possibly a " grand tour " souvenir of The Grand Canal. What is the signature and what are the numbers. Check the back for any labels. Also, take a pic of the back for us.

Well I am familiar with the store- they have middle quality furniture and they are pretty reputable. I know lots of people who have purchased from them~ I was more interested in the particular sofa set. When I google for that, I don't get any hits, which is why I am hoping maybe someoen has some knowledge or experience with that.

jemdandy, that is so similar to the behavior of someone I knew. This woman was a friend of the family's and one day my mother and I had a bit of an argument in front of her- nothing terrible- I was frustrated by what I perceived as my mother not exercising enough (I was wrong- my mother was becoming very ill and we did not know it at the time- the "laziness" was in fact physical.) At any rate, shortly after the argument the friend of the family was with me alone and she told me how right I was to take my mother to task for not doing what she should. So a few days later, I am back to haranguing my poor mother and I tell her, you know even so and so says I am absolutely right in being upset with you about this. Well, wouldn't you know when that "friend" was with my mother , she told my mother that I had a lot of nerve to speak to my mother so disrespectfully, who did I think I was! My mother and I then realized that the friend of ours was doing this exact same thing but within her very own family- between her children and her husband no less. I am not sure if she sought entertainment or power or what by sowing this kind of dissension.

They said it's made of oil based paint. It is likely from a major store, since I have seen to sold by someone else as well. I tried searching Peir 1 until I gave up.

@Beverly I have been looking at this Rosalie Four-Poster Bed for some time but can't seem to find many comments about the headboard height which states it at Queen Overall: 86.5"H, 69"W, 82.5"D. That is a tall headboard if you measure it out and I have a lovely Ralph Lauren with a very high head board at 73" that looks much taller that the photos portraying the Rosalie. I have 9 foot ceilings and just concerned how high it might be. Have you seen the bed in person and can give testimony to the size and the color which states Indigo. It appears black in the photo. I appreciate any comments. Thank you!

Not dismissing it in any way, but it says "starving artist" to me. We, in our earlier days, went to many of these sales set up in hotel ballrooms - Venice and the Grand Canal, as well as Paris street scenes with the ubiquitous Eiffel Tower, were always popular subjects with many variations on a theme.

Of course, if I'm wrong I'll gladly eat my words.
