I used ordinary 6-mil dropcloths for years, in my ignorance, not knowing that there was anything better. Here in the Florida sun it would crystallize in about 5-6 months. I wish I had all that money and time back replacing it twice a year! You, of course, have a local source for UV-treated stuff, but even still, the billowing and flexing that occurs with wind is enough to loosen 6-mil and pull and tear away from whatever attachment you use. If you wanted to add a second-layer of plastic inside your structure for insulation, the UV-treated 6-mil would be perfect. The link below takes you to FarmTek's 5.2-ounce all-purpose fabric. It is wonderful stuff, and like iron. It only requires a fraction of the number of staples to hold it down, and will add structural strength to your project. It's about 11-mil, and has fibreglas "tapes" woven in the fabric that adds strength, and diffuse light to a nice, even translucence. When I said that I have eight-foot spans, I must qualify that a bit. It won't support itself without sagging on a horizontal span that wide, and I used wood lattice on my roof underneath it. (I wish I'd used wire fencing, and someday I'll swap out the lattice...cuts down too much light.) On my walls, I've strung a nylon rope around my studs at the four-foot level as a poor-man's purlin, and this adds a small amount of support...though not much. I bought the instyler and me being a black woman I was afraid to try it just in case it did not work well on women of color but it has done exceptionally well. I�ve also used it on my mom�s hair and it was a lot easier to highlight her layers and it gave it body and volume as well as my own. I think that the product is ingenious because I use to first have to straighten my hair and then curl it. Now I can do both at the same time! The only grievance that I have with this product is that if you try to get to your roots then you will most definantly burn your scalp! It is really hot so if you need something that gets your roots then go buy a regular flat iron and use the instyler to do the rest.

I understand your pain. Yesterday, I got my hair cut and the stylist gave me a lovely blow dry, finishing it with hair spray. My next stop was at an unenclosed shopping center. Normally, I park at one end and walk to the other and back, checking in at B&N, Pier 1, Home Goods and Staples. It was sprinkling, but I didn't want to hassle with an umbrella. Unfortunately, when I exited Staples, it was pouring buckets. By the time I reached the car, I was soaked to the skin. I couldn't even get a comb or a brush through my sopping wet hair because the hair spray was acting like concrete. I needed to go to the grocery store, but I gave up and went home because I looked and felt like a drowned rat. We ate cereal for dinner. LOL!
