Some Monogram products such as ranges and fridges are completely different from the Profile line - some like MWs are just better looking. Also, Monogram provides better warranty service. I'd stay away from a Sears extended warranty - you'll likely be locked into using A&E for service. You don't need to go with a single brand, however. Most of us mix and match. Do your research and get the best brand of each product that meets your needs. No need to get a complete package from one brand.

"Perhaps you are used to a smaller deli drawer in a freestanding fridge and having a hard time seeing how it will work to have something different?" lascatx-yes-guilty as charged ;) I guess I don't need them exactly eye level, but so many just seemed to have only the drawers at the very bottom and I'm trying to get away from stuff rotting out of sight/out of mind in the bottom of the fridge! If I'm remembering right, reasons I ruled out the Thermador were: 1) It didn't have the higher deli drawers 2) the curved, contemporary Thermador logo panel on the exterior and 3) I didn't find them to be quite as well lit inside as the Viking and the Monogram. Honestly, if I could get the Theramador without their curvy logo but with something more "commercial" looking like the open grille look of the Viking/Monogram, I might consider them. I have read good things about their fridges, so thanks for encouraging me to take a second look. maks 2000-That is interesting. I was quite shocked at the high price tag of the Monogram fridge. I still think of "GE" as more budget friendly because it doesn't enjoy the cachet of the higher end brands, but it cost almost as much as the Viking. Thank you both for posting! Dawn

SO sorry to hear your problems....It is heartbreaking to choose something, spend the money on it, expecting it to perform and it doesn't...I had all GE profile appliances, brand new, and they all went south, except the range. Good news is that GE is usually pretty fair about their warranties..at least they were with me! They fixed all of my appliances...so good luck, hope you get another unit!

This might help in determining the space needed for a typical Sub Zero refrigerator installation. We have a Sub Zero 532 next to a single 21" wide x 24" deep cabinet (and upper cupboard). The items are along a wall that is very flat in its relatively short 6.5 foot length. The front edge of the wooden framed cabinet is actually 24 1/16" from the wall. The wooden drawer and doors are 15/16" thick, and the bumper adds another 1/16", so the front surface of the drawer and doors is 25 1/16" from the wall. The front edge of the granite counter top on the cabinet is 26" from the wall. Sub Zero specifies that there is 23 7/8' behind the aluminum frame that surrounds the refrigerator. The frame is 1/2" thick. In our installation, the forward edge of the frame is 24 5/16" from the wall, so we've obviously got the refrigerator installed more than very tightly against the rear wall. I measure that the freezer and refrigerator doors are 26 5/16" from the wall. (That is, the doors and hinges add 2" to the overall depth of the refrigerator.) The door handles stick out another 1/4". Therefore, the overall depth of the installed Sub Zero 532 becomes 26 9/16". Obviously, the front surface of the wooden panels on our refrigerator are not in the same vertical plane as the doors on the cabinet next to it. However, the overall effect is that everything is flush. This is likely the case because a pantry is located next to the Sub Zero on its other side, and that pantry sticks out another 2" or so.
