I recommend you call faucetdirect - there is a phone number on the site and the person I talked to was VERY ready to answer my questions. Since you won't really know the credentials of that person, guess there is always the chance you get someone incompetent so... call more than once ... if you can think of more than one question, you can call back and talk to someone else and ask them for a second opinion .. or call one of the other plumbing sites (my only experience is with faucetdirect but I have no affiliation other than as a customer..) Main reason I'm mentioning this is I went to a local "custom plumbing" supplier and got terrible service/recommendations. I'm convinced that you have a better chance on the web. And Next time, (I have another bathroom to do) I am thinking about using "justanswer.com" in the plumbing area for just the kind of questions you are asking. Yea, you must pay something, 30 dollars or so but worth it - I now have a handshower I don't like and everytime I look at it, I think of how much better off I would have been to get more advice from web services including gardenweb.com of course but my point is to recommend you use other web resources as well.

One thing you might like to consider is what I did: no wall-mount shower head at all and only the hand-held shower head on a bar. This would be a way to save money, too. I had this at my old house in both the master bath and the kids' bath, and I did it again in my new house when we renovated. I really like having the hand-held for washing the walls, not just for the weekly scrub, but for rinsing after every use to get the soap off and prevent scum from forming. I also like it for washing intimate areas and the kids' hair, and it's nice to have the shower head height adjustable on a bar if any children will ever use your shower. I have never missed having a regular wall-mount shower head. I have used Grohe and Hansgrohe shower heads. One warning about the rain shower head is that some people have complained that they have insufficient force to rinse out thick hair. I have never used one, but you might look on the forum.

I have this-actually 2 of them facing each other in the same shower. One is a handheld on the slide bar and we love it and the other is on the movaria fixed arm and I don't love that. The slide bar is really wonderful and I love the little shelf. The fixed one doesn't really turn side to side or up and down very far and I am probably going to change the arm out but keep the showerhead because it is nice and was too expensive to just throw away. On the fixed, we removed the restrictor, heard lots of complaints about poor water pressure and it made a huge difference. We left the restrictor in the handheld mainly because my kids use that and stay in long wasting water but I have to use the other one to rinse my long hair. I have thought about taking the restrictor out but can't figure out how! I've read lots of complaints about the finishes, we went with chrome and after just 6 months, spots are difficult to wipe off. The adults wipe the shower fixtures dry after every shower but the kids don't always. Still, I think they should look better than they do and had to buy special metal polish to clean the spots. We do have hard water though, but the most the shower went without being wiped down was just overnight and dried the very next morning. In the end, they were pretty expensive and I would probably have chosen something else! Also, forgot to mention that one of the heads has a small drip but have had 2 plumbers out and neither knows how to fix it and found that it is a common complaint. Search on the Terry Love Plumbing board for good recommendations, they are nice there!

I am having difficulty choosing a shower head and hand shower for our master shower. We currently have an older Grohe hand shower mounted on the shower arm and only use one setting for actual showering. Prices for showerheads seems to vary widely even in the same line; Ferguson quoted the following just for Grohe heads. When I asked about the price, they told me it was design elements only. Axor Citterio 3-jet 2.0GPM $474.16 4-function 2.0GPM $59.66 Movari 2.5GPM 5-function $175.60 Raindance S $374.34 Randance E $447.01 The best thing I could find was on the Rohl website, a video that actually showed each of their shower heads in operation. Ferguson quoted $175.30 for the Rohl Ocean4 showerhead. Do I just choose a basic rainshower for the main showerhead, and the multi-function for the hand shower? What is the correct placement of the hand shower in relation to the main shower head? (I've seen some where the hand shower bar is mounted so that the top position of the hand shower is parallel horizontally to the main shower, some so that the hand shower is down and over a foot.)
