I used to use Dermablend all the time, for years. I don't get dark circles w/bags under my eyes so much as that dark pigmented look from thin skin. (There is a name for that, IIRC, I just can't think of it.) But guess as my skin aged it started not working so well, got fine little creases in it. (It conceals better than anything I've tried, imo.) tina, the Bare Minerals conceals surprisingly well for a powder, and it's not loose or flaky. I'll have to check out gdust's color, yellow is a good concealer on my skin tone. The Summer Bisque is more taupe and on the cool side, but still does the trick. (Even better in winter.) Mineral powder doesn't bother me a bit (and can't stress enough how much I don't like makeup, the less, the better.) ;) And the 'white stuff' in the Cover Girl/Olay Simply Ageless can be pretty bright, but that can be avoided by using mostly the flesh tone and dabbing just a bit of white in with it. I mix it right in the pot. It gives the eyes a more 'awake' look, not racoony, if that makes sense. Clinique used to have a "Find Line" that was an 800# for discontinued products (depending on how far back it was discontinued). Check this out, they still have the # to call plus a link to a locater on their site. I've seen Clinique at Ulta also, if not discontinued ages ago maybe they would have it?

to replace 'knife hinges' or not?
Q

I think they might be adjustable. Perhaps some fiddling with something would help. Or, if you can see some working properly, replace with something similar. I'd avoid the European style hinges because they are so different, it'd be a large annoying project. On malfunctioning drawers I think it might be worth it to get Blum hardware, but hinges not so much. It ought to be enough to open (and 180 is pretty nice), close, and not bounce open again. And having the hang adjustable like those pictured is nice.

Ideas to conceal TV outlet that was installed too high?
Q
Comments (19)
@Jan Moyer, thank you. I don't think you're crazy. I'm definitely trying to come up with an inexpensive quick fix until we can move the outlet. Honestly, we rarely have guest over that would see this area of the house, so this is more for me. :) Every time I look at that outlet I remember the conversation between hubby, myself, and the electrician when we were picking outlet locations. They both thought it should be high and I finally said, "whatever, you can move it later!" I'm still waiting! LOL! The rug will eventually be replaced. It is a carryover from the old house. When I purchase it I assumed it would be neutral enough to work with anything, but when I made the seat cushions last summer, I quickly learned better. I'll continue to use it until I refinish the wood on the sofa & chair. Once that is complete I'll get a new rug that compliments everything. The dodads in the corner are birdhouses that I stacked there while doing a quick cleanup of the house. I had them strewn across the table while replacing the chains to hang them outside. They will soon make their way to the yard and I'll just have a plant in that corner. @Debbi Washburn, good point. That would definitely be the quickest/easiest route.

KSWL, thank you....Concealer recommendation

I was going to comment in the original concealer topic, except this brand is the best I've ever used. $10.00? I would have paid a lot more. The bestest ever concealer! IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye, Full Coverage in Medium. This isn't the concealer with illumination. Not needed at all. The first time was a disaster because I took advice from a video by putting several dots under each eye with my finger. Each eye only needs one tiny dot. I had an unused concealer brush which is better than using your finger. The brush is what made the difference because it was able to spread up and down and over the eye. I did a double take in the mirror and saw a younger woman with bright and illuminating eyes. Perfect for eyelids if you don't want to wear shadow. This past year I got dark circles and puffy eye's which is due to allergies. I also applied on and in the crease on each side of my nose, and covered a little blemish. Thank you !!!

If you have the extra money, I highly reccomend the "Cle de Peau" -concealer ($70.00).

This stuff is amazing (covers anything). When I went to Neimans to buy it, I walked up yo the Cle de Peau counter and asked for it. The regular salesperson for Cle de Peau wasn't there, so the girl helping me couldn't find the concealer sticks; she finds the Cle de Peau sales girl and she told us that she has to hide the concealer sticks cause Neiman employees have been stealing them. She said she can't even keep the samples up front for customers to try-on, cause the customers have been stealing them as well. If that doesn't tell you how great the stuff is, I don't know what will. I have fair skin and it matches perfectly, covers everything. You get what you pay for.

I love MAC select cover up. Kind of pricy, but I buy it for a fraction on Ebay.

My favorite concealer is Bobbi Brown's - I like how creamy it is - it doesn't look dry under the eyes - and a little goes a longways - and you can get it with powder to set the concealer - I'm a makeup artist and I use her concealers on all my clients - they love it.

I love Guerlain's issima Precious light, it has it's own brush on the end and really covers and lights up dark circles under the eye. I keep one upstairs and one downstairs!
