julieyankfan...no kidding about that flat hose...I bought one late last summer. The original idea was on target. It was great, too, in the beginning. I didn't need that green plastic thing to rewind it, because I was watering too often and it was only 25'. So, this Spring, I get it out and start watering again. A couple weeks later, it starts to spray a thin spray from the cloth covering. I think, well, maybe it's cuz I didn't winter it over. I take it to the hardware store and the guy says, "gee, I never see these come back, unless the plastic rewinder gets broken. I feel guilty for taking it back, for the little hole, in the cloth. I pay $10 extra dollars and get a 50' one instead, cuz they're on sale. Go home, water one day. Water next day. Third day, I feel a fine mist on me. Hmmmmm, this time I'm suspicious, so I take it back, with no guilt. Different salesman, different response. He says, as he laughs, "These have been the most worthless hoses that the manufacturers put out...good concept, though". I exchanged it for a regular Ace Hardware generic 60' hose and got money back, in the process. So, I bought a big and beautiful full pink rose, named 'Simplicity' with the extra refund. I'll stay with the ol' 'tried and true' type of hose, for my money, thanks anyway. Becky .(*_*).

Wish I knew the answer, but we have one which attaches directly to the burner. Only replied to tell you how fantastic it is to have one. Deep fried turkey is the bomb! Is it possible to bring the hose and the burner to a plumbing supplier to see if they can figure it out? Hope you can work things out.

I could. However, I live in a small town and the place I bought it is an hour away. I did call their customer service and they told me the only replacement they could give would be an exact match to what I have now. That doesn't do me any good 'cuz I don't want the timer and thermocouple and all that BS. I figure the cheapest and safest fix is go to a propane dealer and get the correct hose. If that doesn't work, I'll simply buy a new burner assembly for something like 25 bucks. But, if the hose is a safe fix then I'll go that route for probably around 10 bucks.

Probably the original root mass that was inside the pot at planting time has dried out and is not re-wetting fully when you are watering*. Try leaving a hose to dribble slowly on the top of that for awhile, see if this procedure puts a stop to the wilting. Do you have it mulched? Bare soils can be 20 degrees F. hotter during sunny weather than mulched ones. If slow soaking doesn't work than dig it up and plunge the root mass into a container filled with clean water, leave it there until it stops bubbling. After a good soak it will be as heavy as it can be - but that can't be helped. Lifting the tree and replanting it will also enable you to address your concern about air pockets. When replanting do not do anything that will result in compressed or compacted soil being immediately next to the tree. Replant into a wide, shallow hole filled with loosened, aerated soil - the same soil that came out of the hole (no peat, bark, sand etc. having been added to the back-fill). If there are clods that might cause large air pockets crumble those before putting them around the tree. Of if there is enough soil of the desired particle size, leave the clods out of the hole. Along with any large rocks and sticks etc. that may be present. *Prevention of such issues is why bare-rooting at planting time is being recommended in recent years. But I wouldn't bare-root a spruce right in the middle of it making new growth, in June - you will just have to be diligent about keeping the original root mass moist all summer, until the existing roots extend out well into the soil around them this fall.
