My criteria for an outdoor grill is 100% SS components and good Customer Service. I have settled on either the DCS or Capital and will probably go with Capital because I have a Culinarian Range and am satisfied with their Customer Service. It has to be all SS because the installation is at beach front location. Many Grills LOOK like they are made of all SS, but are not. Lynx is one that is not. DCS does offer a lifetime guarantee on their unit which is pretty impressive and their CS is supposed to be top notch according to the brick and mortar retailer who also will price match any internet price. DCS offers a 36" and 48" that look great. Capital offers a 30", 40" 52". the 40" is just about perfect for my needs. DCS does not offer infrared burners, Capital does and will accommodate customization, ie all infrared burners(there are 3 burners in the 40" grill)

rgames, So you are building an Outdoor Room with a built-in grill. Outdoor rooms are becoming incredibly popular and most of them include outdoor cabinetry. The outdoor cabinetry contains the grill,sink, and all of the built-in appliances, and even flat panel TVs. Almost all of the outdoor cabinets that I have seen have metal frames rather than wood. Cement board (Durarock, Hardiboard, or Wonderboard) is then attached to the metal frame with screws. Finally, artifical stone is then mortered to the Cement board and then your done. Now you can also build the frame out of treated lumber but to heat-proof the portion of the frame that surrounds the grill I recommend that you cover the frame with the heat-proof sheathing that is used to cover the wood framing surrounding fireplaces and the floor and wall under/behind wood stoves. Call your local wood stove dealer for the name of this stuff (I forgot the name). It is not too expensive. good luck, nra4usa

Felix, I would work with a local landscape designer (who has outdoor kitchens in his/her portfolio) sooner rather than later. In addition to the functional and safety issues of the grill station, I see there's going to be a pool. You'd benefit greatly from a conversation with a designer about what's going to happen in all of those outdoor spaces. We've done several outdoor kitchens for people with pools, and a big part of why they wanted them is to be part of what's happening around the pool while the kids are playing or people are over. If you have a grill head picked out, download the manual and installation instructions from the manufacturer's website to see the required clearances to combustible materials and ventilation requirements. Even if the back wall behind the grill has a stone veneer, if it's over wood framing you still need to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-14" away (I think, no time to look it up because I'm not supposed to be in my office this week). With a standard 24-27" deep grill head, that's not going to fit in that alcove,

If you using Natural Gas and there is a leak, the gas will rise to the top and most likely it will escape through the vents in the grill. If you will have Propane gas propane gas is heavy so instead of rising, it will sink to the bottom of the enclosed structure and it will collect there, so if the enclosed space doesn't have ventilation it can cause an explosion when someone lights something, etc. So it's a good idea to install a vent register on the other side as a safety precaution and have air circulation under there so if it does happen the gas can escape. That being said, if everything maintained and there are no corroded gas line connections which can cause a leak, the chances are slim to none that will ever happen, but then again, this is gas and it can explode and if there is an issue... it only takes 1 time and its "kaboom".
