Has induction changed how you use other appliances?
Comments (7)I'm imagining a ferrous tupperware-type product so you can store, heat and serve your leftovers on your induction cooktop in the same container... it comes with plastic lids for sealing in the fridge, and metal or glass for heating. Maybe Corning will make a ferrous line of French White? We're also looking at an Advantium. I think we would use it a lot as a speedcook oven, so I've been wondering if I would be annoyed that I don't have a microwave available during those times. But it sounds like my induction cooktop will pick up some of the micro usage. I am loving all of these new technologies (or in the case of induction - reintroduced technology). It's a great time to be planning a kitchen remodel!...See MoreMy succulent changed color. How can I bring the original color back
Comments (7)When you say it didn't survive the first winter inside, but revived in the spring, what do you mean? Did it drop leaves and die back to the stem? That very pale orange foliage looks like variegation to me, not stress coloration as I think the other posters are thinking. Variegation refers to areas of little or no chlorophyll, whereas stress coloration is a reaction to intense sun (and often cold) in which the plant produced other colors in addition to the green chlorophyll - kind of like sunscreen. I don't believe the pale areas of your plant could photosynthesize at all. The only parts of the plant able to photosynthesiize were the green parts, and they had to feed the whole plant. I can only guess what caused it (it can sometimes be a virus), but IMO, that appearance wasn't sustainable. The plant HAD to produce more green leaves or die. I had an Aeonium kiwi that did something similar. It started out green with white, pink, and orange variegation, but then it grew like gangbusters and all the new growth came in white and a little pink at the edges- no green. It was absolutely stunning to look at, but with only a few older green leaves to feed the whole plant, it weakened and succumbed to a mite infection. It didn't have enough resources (stored energy) to come back. I think you're lucky yours is alive at all. If I'm correct about what was going on, I don't think it'll ever be orange like that again, and that's good. Maybe it'll get some orange variegation, but not so much that all the new growth is pale and without chlorophyll. here is a photo of mine as it was turning completely white....See MoreAppliance color change
Comments (4)We had our cabinets painted about a year ago by a painter not a company that specializes in refinishing cabinets. We did it as a temporary fix and as expected they are chipping and don't look great. They did brighten up the space tremendously though which was the goal! If we had loved everything else about the kitchen (layout, cabinet quality etc) we would have paid the $7,000+ we were quoted to have them done right so they would have lasted much longer....See MoreChange cabinet color or replace with new cabinets and appliances
Comments (14)When you paint cabinets you have to use a particular kind of paint and follow a multi-step process in order to get a result that will last. You should do some research and then choose the white from the available whites in the right kind of paint. Also, there is no way for anyone to tell you remotely which white is going to work. Our perception of color really depends on the lighting, and colors don't look the same online as they do in person. The only way to find the right color is to sample. However, no matter which white you end up with, stainless steel is a good choice for new appliances....See More- 16 years ago
