I know this an old discussion but the problem still exists with these ranges. The locking mechanism is driven by a very slow, small electric motor. So momentarily moving the knob to 'clean' starts the cycle and causes the latch mechanism to rest in a partially closed position. Since the latch is spring-loaded, the door might lock if closed. Moving the knob to clean causes the motor to fully lock the oven (after about 20 seconds). But then turning it off does not cause it to unlock because the mechanism is not powered in the off position. You have to move it to 'bake' to make the lock mechanism disengage. Very poor design. BTW, Capital (or their contract service company) will sell you a new 'lock-mechanism) for $90+ dollars but it most likely won't solve your problem. However, if your locking-mechanism is defective, note that the new mechanism does not include the temperature switch, which may be your problem. And 2 of the screws won't fit the new mechanism because they do not thread the holes. You'll need new stainless self-taping screws.

If you entertain a lot, two ovens are recommended, even if one is a 30" and the second a smaller speed oven. Microwave drawer is pretty neat, we have a sharp as well. dishwashers - Bosch is good, but Miele is better and has great capacity once you have mastered loading it properly. Hello Fred Did you ever resolve this problem? It just happened to me again. Had a lasagna in the oven at the time so I was hesitant to turn it up to self clean and then back. I turned the oven off and finally the latch disengaged. Regards, M

It might be that your kitchen is colder causing the condensation. Also check to make sure nothing is blocking your ventilation. It might be normal initially while preheating but should clear up as the oven heats.
