I have the advantium 240 above my wolf oven. The speed cooking is amazing and does not come out like microwave food. You can bake a batch of cookies in the oven easily but most the time I make a lot of the time so I use my bottom oven. The advantium uses halogen lamps to brown the food. There is also standard convection heating without microwave. Or you can do a combination of convection, upper and lower heating, and microwave to have food come out perfectly. I have never tried toasting bread but I hear it does not toast effectively. One thing to consider is the advantium has a drop-down door so be careful on how high it is in your stack of ovens. Mine starts at about 49 and three-quarter inches from the floor. I think I would've considered a drawer to hold the extra trays or one of the kick drawers. Mine are above the oven which is fine for me to reach at this state of my life as I get older it might be hard to reach. It would've been easy to put an inset drawer as part of the 15 inch drawer at the bottom.

I love this subject. As much as I love the look and performance concept of two ovens, I can't commit the space or resources. Here is what we are doing: 1 wall oven (probably monogram) 1 krups fbc-4 toaster oven (there are many reviews on amazon) 1 microwave, plain for now, but may upgrade to panasonic genius prestige convection microwave based on needs. 1 solar oven (not sure what model yet) Why am I doing this? Like many people, once in a while I could really use two ovens, but it's not a frequent need. My toaster, which I love, has a convection oven feature that works well. It does great brownies, pies, and small cakes/side dishes. It fits my largest diameter (10.5 inch o.d.) pie dish easily. The rectangular inner dimensions are 12" w x 11" d, with nearly an inch bumpout in depth in the back, but I would leave that open for air flow. Anyway, what I learned this thanksgiving (I never paid attention before because I wasn't designing a kitchen) is that the turkey and the pies bake at vastly different temperatures, so I did need another oven for the holiday. But, the toaster oven fit the bill. I figured, if I could make it through thanksgiving on this setup, I could get through just about anything that might come my way. So, I am going with this combo. As the years go by and the number of bakers in my kitchen grow, I can upgrade my microwave to a convection unit if necessary too, but since I'm doing freestanding, I won't have to change my cabinets. I just wanted to mention the toaster oven, because when you're using it as an additional oven, you still get the use of your microwave. So, that's 4 baking options, 5 if you count our bread machine, all without a double wall oven. Not a solution for everyone but I thought it might be worth mentioning. If you click around in the links, some of the information about the use of solar ovens in refugee camps is heartening, and gives me hope for the future of the world. It's worth it to me, both in terms of electricity saved, and in setting an example for my kids, to master the use of the solar oven. I have the built-in 120 Monogram Advantium and so far love it! It is truly idiot-proof and extremely intuitive (we haven't gotten the manual out yet.) This afternoon I used it to speed-cook a box-mix pan of brownies in a 13x9 glass baking pan. They came out better than when I cook them in the regular oven! (Mine, cooked in my old house's Kenmore Elite oven, were usually pretty raw in the middle, and when I try my best to not have rawness, they end up too hard on the outside!) They cooked in 22 minutes with zero pre-heating required and are perfect tasting! I still haven't roasted meat in it yet, but the microwave function is perfect, with lots of fun options like "express" which microwaves in 30 second increments (hit it 3 times and you have 1.5 minutes - perfect for heating a cup of water for herbal tea!), and "reheat" which asks you what you are reaheating and does a pretty good job of getting the item/plate of food nicely heated. I've also speed-cooked frozen cod fillets, chicken nuggets, frenchfries (not the best, but frozen fries are not usually aweseome), frozen veggies, Pillsbury crescent rolls (a tiny bit flatter than regular baked, but still flaky, browned and the kids chowed them down). I also used the microwave function to cook a blueberry pie after cooking the crust in my regular oven at 425 for 10 minutes, and it was bubbling and done within 5 minutes! It's very exciting to have such a powerful and cool oven to play with - no regrets after 2 months.

So, make a niche(s) with the proper electric service and size to have a built-in put in if you really need it to sell (but I bet you won't)--if you're planning to sell within three years, get the built-ins already, but otherwise, they're going to be just so many used appliances. If yours are truly ratty, you can buy new versions of each. If you WANT a speed oven, and intend to use it as such, that's another story. Go for it! Read through the manuals, etc. But I think you'll find that it's not at all the same thing as your Breville toaster oven. You can use the convection oven settings on a speed oven to perform some of the same functions, but it's a real oven, with limitations, not a toaster that tap dances. I sometimes use my speed oven the way others use a toaster oven--mainly for heating up frozen appetizers or reheating casseroles when other ovens are full, but my old (dead) toaster oven was beloved for making great toast, which a speed oven isn't, and not for other uses. I do zap sandwiches on MW mode, and once in awhile lightly defrost or melt, but if I used a microwave more, I wouldn't have such an expensive machine doing it. I agree with putting enough thought into a remodel that it won't limit resale, because you never know what the future will bring--thus make sure there's place for built-ins to be built into--but unless it's a flip, it should be designed for your own use and enjoyment, and you used the key words "heavily use" and "love".
