Related question. If you need to leave an air gap between the fiberglass insulated stud bays & the XPS because of piping, etc, is that a problem?

The batts should be as tight as possible without compressing them. To eliminate any chance of condensation on water supply pipes I'd wrap them in foam sleeves.

I have the same question? I am going to install 2" XPS against my concrete wall...frame, batts, then drywall. The problem I have is that I had to space my stud wall 5" from concrete wall due to plumbing lines. With that extra 3" space.....what should I do?

I avoid that problem by boxing around the drains. Or you can use expanded polystyrene (EPS) to reach recommended R levels without leaving space for convection currents in the middle of an insulated wall.
