A...this thread is nearly 10 years old. I stopped growing 'New Hybrids' 5 years ago, primarily because it self-sowed with such abandon. That said, it volunteered only in garden beds and containers. I saw and have seen no evidence of it 'escaping' cultivation. That would tell me its cross-pollination didn't lead to reversion to species. There still appears to be little, if any evidence of invasive growth of Miscanthus sinensis cultivar reversions. The preponderance of evidence is the invasive stands of M.s. is species, and stem from ornamental plantings of the species over 100 years ago. I get volunteer M.s. every year, in small quantities in my gardens. The most prolific appears to be from 3 copies of 'Gracillimus' which are well isolated from my other varieties, but are in my front yard, and susceptible to cross pollination from the approximately 25 different varieties of M.s. being grown by my neighbors. Not a single one of these volunteers has been a reversion, but bore extremely close resemblance to 'Gracillimus.' A few have exhibited much finer foliage, and I've kept these in nursery beds in the back yard to keep an eye on them. They, like ~80% of my ornamental grasses, get dead-headed every fall.

I actually don't mind getting paper junk mail. I sort my mail as soon as it comes, anything I can't use goes in my paper recycling. I'm not worried about hackers/identity thieves stealing my catalogs and auto insurance offers! My name and address are public records! I don't throw credit card or banking or actual bills in my recycling. I like looking at gardening and cooking catalogs. (Two of my hobbies are planting and eating). March is a good month to organize/purge clutter. It's a long dreary month, 31 days, erratic weather, still mostly darkness. But Easter is just beyond the horizon, it would be nice to have all my horizontal spaces clear and open! I'll join you, TreKaren.

We live on a long, dark dirt road and have never really had trick or treaters except the neighbors' kids. I was home alone last night and super nostalgic for the days we used to take our kids out. My mom would have a small party and we'd take the kids around her neighborhood where we know a lot of the people from my sister's restaurant. Our kids aren't big candy eaters, but we always had fun with everyone dressing up. (and maybe a red cup). I resorted to stalking facebook and texting my friends for photos of their kids and grands. I just found out the Health Center I work at sponsors a table at a Trunk or Treat event. I will be volunteering next year for sure. It's a great option here where neighborhoods are far apart and many homes are seasonal.

I know a coulple of things you can use - but I am not sure they are available at your place. Look at the pesticides that have Imidacloprid in them. If you find granular - Bonide makes it, Ortho has it, Fertilome has it....good, you can dig it into a a soil - it is a systemic,. If you find only a drench or spray - you will need to spray several times so the pesticide gets absorbed and mealies - eradicated. The foliar mealy bugs fly and they put their eggs on a shelf, under the windowsill, all kind of places. So use rubbuig alcohol straight and wipe everything around your plant areas.
