NEW Bosch Dishwashers with Cutlery Rack
Comments (27)Yes, but if that "one" flooded your living room and dining room, both of which had expensive carpet installed 6 months earlier ... it would become a defining moment for you too, lascatx. The dish drawers have been flawless, but they do have a moisture alarm on the floor beneath them. The reason the flood happened? During the night a brain fart happened (in the dishwasher) and water kept filling and flooding out the dishwasher because there was no ability to electronically drain the water. So when DH went to the kitchen to make coffee the next morning, slosh! slosh! We were not happy campers, especially since that dishwasher was about a year old....See Moredishwasher with third rack and silverware in door?
Comments (7)Thanks Bruce! I had no idea there was such a thing as a baking drawer. What is the purpose of it being in a drawer? Wouldn't that make things more difficult to get in and out? (I do like the double ovens I have seen with a slimmer oven on top and then larger oven on bottom....I think I prefer that to having 2 ovens the same size which I often see. It doesn't take much room to fit a casserole dish, a sheet pan meal or pizza in the top without heating up the whole oven. I agree stainless seems to sell better. I am really not sure how long we will stay in this house. I would think at least the next 5-10 years, but it may be shorter. I do believe either way the kitchen is in bad need of updating to help it sell, plus it would make me happy because I spent a LOT of time there....See MoreBosch entry level dishwashers 2017 Ascenta series opinions
Comments (8)Bosch Ascenta, like virtually all dishwashers made today, has a heating element. However, European dishwashers like the Ascenta work completely differently from American dishwashers when it comes to heating water and drying. In the American dishwashers you're used to, the element is exposed at the bottom of the tub. It heats the water during wash and rinse, and heats the air during the dry cycle to "bake" the moisture out of the dishes. European dishwashers also have an element, but it is concealed. This design is much more effective and efficient at heating the water while washing and rinsing. Also, it allows you to put plastics in the bottom rack without having to worry about them being melted by the heating element. However, it cannot heat the air for drying. Instead European dishwashers use a method called condensation drying. The final rinse is heated to a very hot temperature using the concealed element, hotter than most American dishwashers. After the dishwasher drains, this water quickly evaporates off the dishes and condenses on the walls of the stainless steel tub. Then the droplets roll down the sides of the tub and go down the drain. The advantage to condensation drying is that it is much more energy efficient. The disadvantage is that it doesn't work as well with plastics, since they won't get as hot and the water won't evaporate off them as much. It's important to use rinse aid with these dishwashers. This will lower the surface tension of the water, and let it spread into thin sheets that run off easier....See MoreLG, Bosch or KitchenAid Dishwasher
Comments (11)I had kitchen aids (when they were made by Kitchen Aid) for over 20 years. They were a workhorse and cleaned well. I have had a few years experience recently with Bosch and would never go back to Kitchen Aid - Bosch cleans and dries better. Like Dan I went with Miele with my new build (now 2 years) and Miele cleans great and dries better than Bosch I think due to the open door air drying. LG is not a brand I associate with making a great dishwasher. Bosch has a recessed handle that is pretty generic if the handle issue is a big deal for you. Not having a heating element is a huge advantage as now you can put what you want where you want....See More- 11 years ago
