Dishwasher: Bosch, Kitchen-Aid, or Kenmore version of these
Comments (13)I have had the issue with the damaged (thankfully returned to normal) cabinetry. My appliance dealer took back the KA after a month +/- of use based on this and let me pick anything I wanted to replace it. I picked a upper model Bosch, with the cutlery rack, and haven't regretted it one bit. This machine is quieter than the KA, I can fit more since the tines are closer together (I took my plates to the store with me before purchase to be sure they fit), and most important, it doesn't vent in to my cabinetry. I have linked my original thread on this issue, and some people say they have never had any moisture there, and these people also have their DW pulled out from the cabinetry, where I wanted a flush fit, which is what I thought you would get with a fully-integrated machine. I'm very happy with the Bosch. I was quite upset at first because I loved the KA with the exception of the vent issue, but we have all the rest of our KA appliances and we're happy with them. My best advice would be to buy from a reputable dealer who will stand by their product, and if needed, replace if you're not satisfied. Here is a prime example of why I switched. I placed this piece of paper in between the DW vent and my cabinet directly beside it on the left. This is what I got after a cycle. I think the fact that the repair technician from my appliance store who came out and said that our machine was functioning the way its supposed to and yes, indeed that IS a vent, is telling. KA customer service was not so helpful. Here is a link that might be useful: Vent issues......See MoreDishwasher Selection Bosch/ KitchenAid/ Jenn Air/ Maytag
Comments (3)I have a Kitchenaid about 2 years and it does a really good job and very quietly. Holds a lot including odd shaped & sized things, washes the dirtiest loads clean and best of all it dries things too. The racks are very sturdy, adjust & move easily. The machine has a soft food disposer, so you don't have to worry about the odd pea, bits of rice, kernals of corn, melon seed or other food waste. They are trapped, pulverized and then flushed away. So there is no filter to hand rinse or odors in the machine. The instructions recommend Cascade or Electrasol detergents and keeping the rinse aid dispenser topped off. Following this advice, everything has worked well. C...See MoreBosch v. KitchenAid dishwashers
Comments (4)Thanks everyone! I was referring to EPA? regulations/all this new Energy Star stuff....that is what she said...by law they have to put a vent in but KA "closed" it off....I think you are all right....why take the chance of ruining my new cabs? KA is actually Whirlpool now but supposedly their higher end. I asked this dealer about Bosch...she said they don't carry Bosch, LG or Samsung because of "service issues." I will look around for other dealers...would like to purchase locally, but you sure can't beat prices at AJ Madison!...See MoreBosch vs. Kitchen Aid dishwasher, trying to understand grinder pump?
Comments (9)We own a Bosch 300 and I hate the filtering system. The filter is a basket about 3” deep in the base of the tub. If a sticky label comes off something and gets down in the basket, it’s basically impossible to get out. We’ve owned the Bosch six months, and I’ve already purchased two replacement filters, because I couldn’t get junk out of the old ones. I also dislike getting on my hands and knees to remove and reinstall the filter.. The filter works ok to remove some food particles, but it doesn’t catch oil and grease in the water. If I wash a pan used to cook bacon with the drippings still in it, all of the dishes end up oily at the end. It doesn’t do enough water cycles with fresh water....See Moretj_shopper Eng
