Miele Dishwasher Making Too Much Suds (2472 SCVi)
Comments (24)petestein -- anything that needs correction/adjustment in a Miele product often begins with running the Sanitize cycle. It's the general go-to for most issues. It's long, it's hot and will clear the machine best. It's the 1/monthly maintenance cycle in my washer f.ex. Must agree this could be a rinse aid issue. However, something very similar happened to fauxguy when the formulation of his DW tabs was changed. Looked just like yours. You might want to look at those threads. If you haven't done so already, I would run two Sanitize cycles without any soap whatsoever. If there is still sudsing, I'd call the Miele help line to determine if there's possibly a leak in the rinse aid compartment. Also, when you get the Method tabs, cut them in half and use halves. Even better would be Finish Quantum, which sammiecanada used. I have both Method and Finish which are the best tabs by far in my machine. I use Method because I'my trying to not have much bleach in our septic. The are very good overall but not the tab I'd use for troubleshooting....See Moredishwasher can't clean a spoon ?
Comments (25)Wood spoons like that will get very dry over time, especially in a damp long wash cycle. Wood is very porous when it looses its natural, original, 'when purchased', sanded surface. Some are even rough right out of the box. Usually cheaper lighter wood is used. I don't put my good ones in the dishwasher....the hardwood gifted ones. They would actually hold up better being such dense wood. I hand wash, then dry immediately, let further dry on the counter, then oil them. Not fussy. Takes no time really. You could take your woodens, i have a dozen or so, and seasonally, just 4-6 times a year, give them a quick sanding with a fine sandpaper. I have a half folded sheet in my kitchen "junk' drawer. Especially if you have a couple favorite ones like i do. Then oil them with a paper towel. It seals it, seasons it, like furniture, and they will perform better, not just cooking, but will help in releasing food by hand washing or in the dishwasher. Similar to a wooden cutting boards. They will last for years if oiled. You might like a bamboo set. Very dense and don't need much care. A couple dollars for a set. I use a bit of cast iron and use wood 90% of the time being much easier on cookware. And less scraping noise. Any cooking oil is fine for a well used one. Some oils go rancid over time if put away in a drawer. A neutral mineral oil is good for less used tools. If it feels rough to the touch it is dried out and has microscopic 'teeth'. Sticky food sticks....See Morewould anyone get rid of their dishwasher?
Comments (62)I'm at that point in my life where I can afford to have a few (OK, many) conveniences in my home, even if I don't use them all that often. We (Mom, Dad, 2 teenagers) run our DW every two days, and wash a bunch of stuff by hand every day. In the 20 yrs I've had a DW, I've always had some stuff that just doesn't do well in there. But it's nice to have for the stuff it is good for. As for resale potential, it all depends on your particular market. I sold my late parents' home this winter past, and despite its lack of DW (plus red velvet flocked wallpaper), it sold FAST because of its location and overall condition. My realtor never considered its "primitive" kitchen appliance package a liability. My brother and SIL bought their first home last year, and it had a totally new renovated kitchen, without a DW. It may have been the only house in its neighbourhood without one, but its other features determined its desirability....See MoreKenmore Dishwasher Leaking from bottom right of door?
Comments (0)Hi, My Kenmore 665.15652000 recently started leaking from the bottom right of the door. I do know that I overfilled the rinse dispenser with Jet Dry two weeks ago. However, now the level of jet dry should be fine. I just ran the washer with no soap at all, and more suds than ever came pouring out minutes after starting. Does the Jet Dry get added at the start or finish of the wash? I'm confused! The door seal looks fine, there are no obstructions, visible build up, loose screws or anything along the door....See Morechristmasbaby
