Help finding old ballpark seats

Hello everyone. I've come here in complete frustration with a search for old ballpark seats. I have searched the 'net under every term I can think of and all that's out there is seating from prominent venues like Yankee Stadium, Tiger Stadium, etc. I'd like to acquire and restore a seat or two, but where it's from I do not care, I just cannot afford $800 (as-is) to $2000 (completely restored) for ones I did find online from more famous parks.

I find it hard to believe there were not small parks with similar seating that would not run as much. Do any of you know where I might find one or two seats like this? There are some dealers online but they all deal specifically with seats from the big, more famous places.

Did you look on Ebay? They have some that sell for 200.00 to 300.00 from Texas Stadium with free shipping, this is the buy now price. Was looking to buy one for a gift, but from a specific stadium, but if you dont care, those are buy it now prices...

Yes, I looked on ebay but was hoping to find a seat at a cheaper price perhaps because it came from a smaller venue, like a lesser known minor league stadium or local ballpark. It's the chair I want, where it came from isn't of real importance.

I think the hot dog roasting idea is a great one! My grandchildren always want to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Might as well have something attractive in which to do it. Will be a nice WBFP on those chilly evenings (and they will return). I think I am on a quest to score one for myself, although I doubt I will find one as pretty and ornate as yours!

thanks for your help. i'm glad to know that zillow isn't always accurate. we drove in the neighborhood thinking we might see something in our price range. this home was for sale, so we grabbed a flyer. i was shocked by the price, but really liked it. i couldn't believe that a mid century retro home would ever sell for that much in Baton Rouge, so i googled the address and found info on zillow. so, i guess you could say we stumbled on a house out of our range that we expected to be in our range, and then furthermore found out the owners purchased it for a price 5 months ago that was in fact in our range. looks like it's time for an agent. the neighborhood is really small, and it doesn't seem like anything has sold in there in years. there's been one forclosure, but that's it. the original owners sold it 5 months ago. it seems as though there are many original owners in the neighborhood?? anyway, thanks for your help.

Thank you Jane. You have a lovely porch too. I love your willow furniture. You are lucky to have trees to shade it. Ours gets morning sun and can get quite warm very early one. One of these days we want to close in our sleeping porch off the master bedroom with storm type windows all around to make it more of a three season porch. We've not used it in years. Used to go out there in the evenings. I used Windows Paint to the above virtuals. I have an original version of PhotoShop that came with one of those pens (by Bamboo) that a friend gave to me since they already had PhotoShop. I think they run around a hundred dollars or so. I've not looked at them for a couple years now. Both Adobe and Corel have free online trials of their photo editors. I've tried them both and liked different things about each one so I never made up my mind which to buy. Now that I have the Adobe from my friend I should ask for the Corel for Christmas from my hubby.

Thanks for responding. Most of you agree with DH who thinks a good cleaning is all this furniture will need. The seats are in amazingly good condition. Built to last, for sure. Thank you again. Wow. I'm a little shell-shocked. I wandered off the yellow brick road, and it took me a few minutes to realize what had happened and to find this post in this strange new land. It feels like Godzilla has eaten gardenweb alive... I hope that all of your wonderful, helpful advice will still be here when the dust settles. Gee, a few years ago you almost could have bought the entire Tiger Stadium for $2k.

I am verrrrrry curious about your decorating scheme, coach! :)

fori...I've been a long suffering Browns fan for 35+ years. My wife finally gave me the green light to turn a room into a Browns "mancave." It's not east decorating in burnt orange and brown, so this will be a challenge!

As for the chair, I thought it would be neat to have an old stadium seat in the room, even if it were not from the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium, I just cannot find any seats!

Yah, you're right about the old Tiger Stadium too...and now those seats are going for big bucks!

Contact the groundskeeper at your local high school or nearby high schools.

A few years ago I worked maintenance in a school district and they had hundreds of those seats tossed in a huge pile in a room under the football grandstand. They probably would have given you the whole pile if you supplied transportation & labor.

coach, I know Jungle Jims in Fairfield OH had a bunch they were selling from Riverfront stadium a couple years back. Not sure if they still have them or if it would be a no-no for a Browns fan to have Bengals seats, but you might check.

Might check for old theater seats as well--some of them might be a close enough style to look right when you paint them.
