1940's Bedroom Set Scratch Repair

Hello!

I just purchased a 1920's-1940's Mahogany bedroom set with a cherry finish. The dresser has some scratches and scuffs and I was wondering if anyone had some advice on how to repair them! I've looked online and have seen that people usually melt wax sticks and then buff, but I don't have a hot knife to work with. Does anyone think these could be repaired using furniture patching sticks that you just rub evenly into the scratch? It looks like only the ding on the front damages the wood, while the other scratches and scuffs are just in the finish. Also, this is an antique so I don't want to refinish it, I don't want it to look too perfect.
