GE Monogram Thermostat problem
Comments (15)Searching here is tough... that's for sure! I'm afraid I buried my point that was mostly about the worth (or not) of fixing something that might not be engineered 'right' in the first place, which may have made the post seem more relevant. I do understand that I've posted my story a LOT, and some might be sick of hearing it. Frankly, I'm kind of tired of doing it, and maybe should, in the future, just link my older comments, if I think they'll help. BTW, to all my defenders, wpdoit sent me a gracious email and we're on good terms. :-) I do hope his oven works fantastically, and all the time. I don't know how they use their oven, or how often. I admit that I didn't notice the problem, or recognize what it was right away. I bake almost daily, though, and inconsistency shows in the pastries, breads, large sheets of granola, and continual pizza baking like it might not for others. A GE engineer was weighing in on my problems at the beginning of my communications with them. Then I asked some specific questions of him or her that were never answered. When they decided to give my money back so I could 'purchase an oven that would better suit my needs,' I figured there were no answers to offer? I give them credit for doing that for me, but still couldn't recommend their ovens... or trying to fix one at great expense....See MoreProblem: Wobbly Bertazzoni
Comments (6)The plumber and the builder adjusted and adjusted and adjusted the legs ... supposedly (since I wasn't there). I looked in the manual last night and saw that there are anti-tip braces that were not installed. The builder thinks installing those will make it stable. It kills me that nobody thought to (a) read the manual or (b) consider what in the heck those braces were supposed to do. Geesh! If that doesn't work, I'll have the builder call Berta customer service. Of course, that's like expecting a man to stop and ask directions at a C-store or to read the install manual. Thanks for your responses, as I now know not to accept less than completely stable....See Morehelp with heating and cooling thermostat problem
Comments (3)Check the wiring in the air handler as well. Open the panel and find the control board. There is an area on the control board similar to what is in the thermostat. For the thermostat wire, make sure Y is to Y, W is to W, G is to G and R is to R at both the thermostat and air handler. There will be another wire in the air handler that goes to your condenser outside, ensure that white wire lands on the yellow connection (not the white). Otherwise, the condenser outside will run during heating if it is on the white connection....See MoreProblem with Trane XL850 thermostat
Comments (5)jonkoehn Sorry to hear about your problem with the 824. After reading about others’ problems with the device, I decided to get an 803. The 803 is not as good as the 824 in controlling humidity. What I do in the summer is simply lower the speed of my 3 ton air handler to 319 CFM/ton to control humidity (I find that better than using Comfort R (enhanced mode)). That seems to work well enough. The 803 is excellent at keeping the correct temps and the house comfortable. Another problem that I found with the 850 was the failure of the thermostat to restart after the electricity went out. I had to restart it manually. That is not good if you are away on vacation. Never have that problem with the 803. Hope that helps....See Morejbs2vt
