I have read many posts here and gleaned valuable information, but now have to give my FINAL cabinet order by end of day tommorow and need to choose my under cabinet range hood for my new Wolf AG 36" range (6 burner) and need your expert opinions. I have narrowed it down to the Tempest I (only 22.5 inches deep, but can add a 1100 CFM internal blower), or the Tempest II, also with added dual internal 1100 CFM blower (24 inches deep). I like the clean lines of the Tempest. I also could get the Wolf, but it's significantly more and has rounded edges. If you have the Tempest I or II with added 1100 CFM blower, is it powerful enough, and is it noisy? It's rated 3.5 sones at 1st speed (500 cfm), and then 8 sones at full power (1100 cfm). That seems reasonable, and I'd most likely only use it on first or second speed. I also have an 8 ft ceiling so the Tempest I would fit under a cabinet, if I do the Tempest II I'd have to do it under trim or a panel, not enough room for a cabinet. I called Wolf and she thought the 22.5 inch would be fine. I'm more concerned about noise at this point. I like to stir fry and sear meats, so it does produce some grease/smoke. thanks so much!

All Wolf burners are sealed really, the ones on the all gas are duel stacked, but sealed. The duel stacked does at least provide some heat to the center of the pan, but the ring of flame comes out the sides of both burners not out the top like a true open burner. Look at the videos on Eurostoves dedicated CC site. There is a simmer video comparing the Capital to the Wolf, and also a video showing a Wolf with the burner caps removed. The black top on the Wolf will be harder to clean than the cast iron of the BlueStar or the stainless of the CC. There is also now, the American Range Performer, also open burners and stainless top. The BlueStar and American have various sizes of burners, the CC has all the same. Contact Trevor at Eurostoves you can fly out and cook on the Wolf and CC side by side. He may even have a BlueStar you could try although he no longer sells them. Eurostoves will pick you up at the airport and return you. If you give them an idea of what you want to cook they will pick up the supplies too. If you decide to purchase from Eurostoves they wil reimburse you for your plane tickets as long as you don't fly first class or bring the whole family, your hubby should be ok though. Trevor's prices are competive too, He did quote a CC for me, but I did find a local appliance dealer in the Twin Cities that carried the Capital even though I had to pay taxes I did like the fact that I have purchased from them before and they have a good service reputation, as does Eurostoves. How can you beat an offer like Trevor's?

Wolf and SZ strictly control the pricing of their units, and you'll find that it will be almost identical to the dollar when you compare retailers in your area. Managers are not allowed to sell across sales districts or compete across state lines via online sales. For example, when we were shopping several years ago, I could have bought a SZ fridge for about $1000 less in Chicago than in Seattle where I live. However, I would have had to drive to Chicago, load up the unit, and drive it all the way back to Seattle. Juliet3 is correct...where you can save is through side discounts on peripheral services and other brands bought in a package with your Wolf/SZ. We only wanted the Wolf 4 burner/griddle rangetop, and we paired it with at least 3 other manufacturers (LG, Asko, and FP) for the rest of the appliances. I shopped that entire package around to 4 different dealers and the one that gave me the lowest total price with the best services got the sale. Where they could discount (LG and Asko) they did, plus the winning store threw in free delivery and no interest financing. For what it's worth, it's been 3 years since the renovation (time flies!), and out of all the appliances, the Wolf rangetop/hood and Asko DW have held up the best, with no problems. The FP double ovens were problematic at first, but they have great customer service. And the LG fridge was a disaster....we're now saving up to get a new fridge. Customer service with Wolf has been exemplary. The only issues were an igniter that needed repair after installation, and the gas/oxygen levels needed adjusting. They sent out a service tech free of charge, and this was after we kept the unit in the garage for over a year while the renovation went on, so the "warranty" was technically over. They couldn't have been nicer. You'll spend a bit more for the rangetop, but you'll be very happy with it. The griddle is particularly fantastic, with even and precise heat. And make sure you get the best hood you can afford...that rangetop can throw off a lot of steam and grease when cooking. I like the Wolf pro hood...it's noisy, but effective, and very easy to clean.
