I have a single 27" oven, plus a miniscule standard type microwave. I cook every day and make all our own bread. I don't feel the need for more 'oven power' at all. It all depends on what and how you cook. In my experience, the second oven is one of those "nice but not necessary" items. YMMV

I just went to a cooking demonstration last night at the GE monogram design center.

They had a Chef prepare dinner using their induction cooktop, ZEK 30" wall oven and the Advantium.

I am planning to have a 36" range and was looking for a wall oven and microwave when I saw the Advantium. I thought that it might make sense instead of a microwave.

I'm still undecided on whether I'll do the Advantium but keep in mind I'll already have 2 ovens so this would almost be a 3rd.

I did not experience the convection cooking of the Advantium but the chef used it for speed cooking potatoes and salmon. I microwave salmon often and the taste of the speed cooked salmon was basically the same. The roasted potatoes, while cooked through were not as crisp as they would be in a regular oven.

She made a berry crisp for dessert but baked it in the regular oven, not the Advantium even though she said she had baked muffins in the Advantium in the past.

My take on it after experiencing the meal is that it could be a very useful oven but will not cook food as crisply as a regular oven.

I was totally convinced on it before the demonstration but not I'm not sure I need to spend the money when I can get a microwave for much less.

If I didn't have the room for a second oven and microwave I would seriously consider it as a option.

Any suggestions for me? I want to replace my existing KitchenAid Superba wall oven set: 30" lower oven has convection. 30" upper M/W oven also has convection, but I never use it. I find the convection useful for baked goods and when broiling. (If I don't use the convection broil I have 'wet' steaks because the door has to be closed while broiling.)

I still think the combination Monogram oven/Advantium might be a good fit for you.

I wasn't sure for me if I needed the Advantium over a microwave since I'll already have 2 ovens and it's much more expensive than a conventional microwave.

I believe I've seen several postings in the past on this forum from Advantium fans. Try to do a search for Advantium and it may help with your decision.

I don't think you will have any regrets. In our last house we had the Monogram Advantium, Trivection and the ZET1 w/ the electronic panel. We had them installed for about a year before we moved. I only used the ZET1 which was our 2nd oven a few times to compare how it cooked cookies to the Trivection.

If money wasn't my main concern I would do a Trivection and Advantium this time around. The main reason I liked the Trivection better than the ZET1 was that it would speed bake casseroles/ cookies and they came out better. I think the convection in the ZET1 was great. I liked it as much as the F&P oven I have now.

I forgot to mention, we did not do any large dinners such as Thanksgiving where it could come in handy. I think for everyday you will be fine.

Good info here. We plan to put in the Monogram Advantium for our second oven. I bake - anyone know how well it does in baking cookies and pastry such as pies? This is important because we are on the fence about a dual fuel range or all gas range and I'm concerned about baking in the gas range (although some think it is fine.) It's a DCS range so the gas oven "should" be good quality but I still want an electric option which will be the Advantium (or other brand if anyone has suggestions.) Thanks!

I have the GE Profile 27" single convection oven paired with the GE 120 Advantium oven. I too was concerned if this would be enough both from number of ovens and the 27" size vs. 30" width.

But, space was tight and I wired in an outlet for another oven or microwave just in case.

Happy to report that after 15 months and a couple holidays - no regrets! I'm able to do the holiday meal with the turkey or ham in the main oven and two sides (dressing and green bean casserole) stacked in the advantium - which also has a warming feature if you don't get them timed just right with the turkey! Nice!

My mother-in-law has the same combo as dlspellman's, and she loves it. She cooks for the large family very often, and having Advantium really helps. It can work as 2nd oven, warming drawer, microwave, and convection.

Following her recommendation, my GE Monogram Advantium and 27" single oven combo is arriving next Tuesday. They look so harmonious and sleek together, and I think I will enjoy baking more.

I am so glad to see good things posted here about the Advantium. We are going with GE Monogram 30" dual fuel range and the Advantium as our microwave/2nd oven. Will let you know how it works out.

We're replacing our 15 year old 27" GE Profile single oven not because it doesn't work but because it's interior is 3"-4" narrower than current 27" ovens and I need the room (I have pans I haven't used since moving in). I was also thinking I'd get a 2nd oven because I roast vegetables for many meals during winter and they require a higher temperature than many of my main dishes. Plus it would come in handy at the holidays.

Then I heard about Advantium. Has anyone roasted vegetables in theirs? I could also use the main oven for the vegies and the Advantium for the entree but I'd like to know I could do use either and be happy.

I use my Advantium all the time for roasted vegetables and it works great, & is fast! I have done carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and potatoes .... just drizzle EVOO, season, toss and put in the Advantium. Excellent results every time.
